You may get lucky and the house will catch fire or something.

You the saying that we make our own luck though.

That's the most useful skill to have in place like this. I certainly don't log on to read paragraphs.

I've had some customers up in that area in the past. There's some younger folks that have revitalized part of there too.

it is a weird old fricker that started living in the garage. the house lights were never on, but the garage was lit up by C-Clamp light fixtures. The house itself has been going back to nature. with windows always open and vines growing through the roof and wall.

You said he's the 'old dude'? Call Alabama/Jeffco DHR. Ask for Adult Protective Services Intake officer and report a suspected case of neglect/self neglect. You can do it without having to give your name. Make sure you describe the living conditions in the most accurate and horrible sounding way you can. I guarantee you he'll get a visit from a case worker. If it is really that bad, he might get committed. As a vollie EMT, I'm a mandatory reporter. I've called in many reports (Elmore, not Jefferson) and they always respond.

If DHR fails, you might have another way. Where's he getting the the electricity? Might want to drop a dime to Alabama Power and suggest he's stealing the juice.

Most are. That's an old neighborhood. Used to be really nice, then went downhill, and parts are pretty nice again. Lots of UAB students began renting for awhile.

appreciate that, that is the most helpful direction I've been pointed towards thus far.

I have contacted Alabama Power before, to no avail.

I don't really want to give my address out, but it is on 21st Ave South between the Vulcan and Red Mtn Expressway. If you are driving towards English Village, the weird old frickers house is on the left, looks like it is about to fall in on itself, the house where he has the old woman set up in is about 4-5 houses down on the right.
