ENO'ing, is this really considered a hobby?

So my wife writes a lot of recs, for girls, for sorority recruitment. Recently, on numerous resumes, she has seen ENO'ing listed as a hobby. Is sleeping in a hammock considered an activity these days for kids? Am I missing something here?

As someone who has had an eno (and liked it), this is the dumbest fricking thing I have ever heard. Suspending yourself in a prone position inbetween two trees in the woods is not a hobby. But, hey, easier to weed out the lazy/dumb kids on those applications.

You could be helpful and explain what that is for the great number of people here who have never heard of that before.

ENO, Eagles nest outfitters, makes a thin light nylon hammock, that you can strap between trees.

Wait, that's actually considered a hobby and not just "we're sleeping in a suspended hammock"?

Apparently. I just figured it was the optimal way for people that wear patagonia and throw frisbees but don't actually camp, climb, or hike to feel outdoorsy. More often than not, I just see them strapped up on people's porches and patios

Omg people actually put that on an application?

Not only should they INSTANTLY be rejected on principle alone, your wife should call them and give a life lesson so they don't be looked at as idiots in the future.

twitter hashtag search for enoing

I have been seeing kids around our local parks in the trees as well. Just finding ways to hang and lay in hammock. Just like the photos above. That with the sorority resumes just make me shake my head.

If getting a massage, watching a movie or reading a book can be a hobby then this can too.. it actually takes more effort to travel/ hike and deploy these than it takes scrooster to roll a joint and build a birdhouse..

And none of those should go on a resume. Hobbies on any resume are pretty questionable. But young people think the company wants to "get to know them as people" in the hiring process.

It's a fricking hammock. God, I hate white girls sometimes

I have one and it's awesome for camping, which I do a lot of, but I would shoot myself with my .38 before I ever "go ENO'ing"

If you've noticed in the past I really only post during working hours, except now. I have been swamped at work. We have increased staff three fold and have been training people left and right, which means someone sitting in my office. Kind of hard to post when I have a new hire looking at my monitors all day. I took some time off for some various other reasons as well. I'd rather not discuss. I will only be popping in and out from time to time though.

Sadly no to fall(baby due in October), we were going to head this spring, even had a hotel, but emergency came up

Sure it's a hobby! Personally, I put SOMA'ing (Sitting On My arse) down as one of my top hobbies. Hell, I'm SOMA'ing right now!

Exactly, if you are going to talk about a hobby as an accomplishment, it better have some sort effort/commitment/ involved.

I can kind of understand listing hobbies for a sorority recommendation (which I think is what the OP was referencing) with it being a social organization. But you put down your pageant accomplishments or something like that. Not lying in a fricking hammock.

I'm now officially declaring Netflix binging a hobby.

I can binge the frick out of some shows on Netflix. That takes time, concentration, and stamina.

I have been engaged in processing 02 to CO2 that I have become really good at it and feel it should appear on all future job applications. I have even been know to keep on working even while sleeping and in the new "green" economy I am all natural.

As if that was not enough, I can take meat protein and process it into fertilizer to grow vegetables.

Talk about multitasking and I am doing it.
