They just didn't like keeping up with me and my comings and goings. I worked 40 hours so I was never there for a meal. The quote was "we are not your roommates, we are your parents, pay us rent and food money or move out."
I did get to stay with my grandmother during some of it so it wasn't quite as brutal.

I paid my parents rent during the summers home from college while I worked as an intern in Dallas, but not because they asked.

I hope it wasn't $300 for 1 ticket.

I had the in-laws from HELL. FIL was a physician & he died with every nickel he ever earned in cans buried in the backyard somewhere. For the first 3 yrs of our marriage he asked if he could use the wife as his tax deduction; and got pissed when we said no.Tried to get another son-in-law, an electrician, to wire his house for cable tv to avoid monthly charges.etc etc. MIL was a high society rich bitch type & refused to allow the wife and another daughter to wear one of her 3 mink coats to a M.Gras ball.Lived in same town for 12 yrs & never...never..had our 2 boys over for a night, i.e. refused to babysit.Almost had a stroke when after she severely limited my side of the family's wedding invitations & I retaliated by giving an open invitation to all my fraternity brothers. I could literally fill pages here.

No. $100 for each person. Insult to injury on that trip.
A. I hate San Antonio
B. We were told we didn't have to pay for a 2 year old and 6 month old beforehand from NCAA and ticketmaster. Alamodome ticket people felt differently.
C. We were sandwiched between loud cussing lesbians.
D. They held kids for first half of first semifinal game. The rest it the trip was spent with me watching them by myself.
Worst 3 days of my life.

I mean shite, when we bought our house I told her we would paint it and the mom tried to show me how to paint. Then a tire needed to be changed and I went to change it but the mom had called Triple A because she didn't think I knew what I was doing. Apparently she thinks I'm 1 step away from being mentally retarded.
God damn I hate people like this.

Wifes parents have been dead since early 90's but loved them both. Great people.

I've had two sets. I was married for a hot minute to my first husband while I was in college. His parents were the most backwards/redneck/ignorant/offensive people imaginable. Naturally I retaliated by acting like a spoiled elitist bitch. The day our divorce was final was a great day for us all.
My late husband's family is kind of a mess, but their intentions are good. I get along pretty well with them, especially in small doses.

I get along great with my SO's parents.
His mom never stops talking and his dad rarely ever talks much, but they're both super nice.
