Same way I do in the summer, spring, and fall

Rub her trunk
Whisper sweet nothings to her
Pay some attention to her headlights
Make sure she has plenty of fluids and well lubricated

Purrs like kitten for me she does.

You're not supposed to warm up your car by letting it sit idle.

It's a myth.

If it's cold, like 20s or below, the best thing to do is wait about 30 seconds to a minute and start driving it lightly

Thank you, end of thread

I start mine up and let it sit until the RPMs go back to normal. Usually takes 15-30 seconds depending on how cold it is.

I remote start that bitch and let it sit while i scarf down my breakfast. About 8 - 10 min.

I do because I can remotely crank it like a civilized person.

But contrary to popular belief, this does not prolong the life of your engine; in fact, it decreases it by stripping oil away from the engine's cylinders and pistons.

Go get your fricking oil changed. I doubt this affects literally anything in the car. It's just silly.

unless you have a pre 1980's car, don't let it warm up for longer than 30 seconds.

It takes at least 4 minutes to get it warm. This defeats the purpose of cranking it early.

It's better for the engine to run and warm up before putting into gear.

People who start there car and in one motion move it into gear are hurting their car. Need to give the oil time to circulate.

In the winter, yes, I warm my car before driving (remote start is a great feature), and in the summer, I still start it, check heat/ac/radio, put on seat belt, before I put it in gear.

My garage has radiant floor heat. So does my shop.

Nailed it, I'm actually an automotive tech so kinda knew the answer before I asked.. Was just wondering how informed ppl are about their cars.. And to answer dudes question bout how it is harmful, gas is a solvent.. When your engine is cold the computer compensates by running a rich mix which, in fact, is harmful to your bores and rings

if you don't want to sit in a cold car, you should. That's my reason of warming up

Mine too. Frick the car. I warm it up so I don't have either to drive down the road freezing or wear my coat in the car.

Nothing better than turning on the car, cranking up the heat and turning on the heated steering wheel and seats and then getting in 10 minutes later to a balmy 80 degree car.

I don't warm it up, but I do keep the engine rpms to a minimum until the thermostat registers. I'd rather the engine gradually warm up than quickly, metal can be fickle.

Yes. thanks to remote start though I start it before I head out, and by the time I get to the car it has idled down and time to go.

Carbureted engines need it for proper fuel air ratio. If it's cold too might run rich or something like that

We live in Alabama, dude. It doesn't get cold enough to warrant that, unless you're a puss. When I lived in Indy and it'd be 0 degrees or below when I'd leave for work in the morning then I'd warm it up first, but that was more to melt the sheet of ice off my windshield

When it's really cold I idle it for about 20 seconds and then put it in gear (with the brake applied) to drop the rpm's. I'll wait another 20 or so seconds before beginning to drive, slowly, down the driveway.
