This is one where I think something's fishy, but I can't put my finger on it.
I will say that a couple from my church lost a granddaughter there, so saying it didn't happen at all seems rather implausible.

Couldn't be further from the truth. Sandy Hook was an emotional appeal to get people to support gun control. It didn't work. 20 "dead" kindergarteners and nothing changed.
The latest hoax to rally people around gun control was the Virginia reporter shooting. It didn't work either. People talked about it for two days and then moved on.
