Yes... and I'm the reason several of my friends would also be able to say yes. Sold weed from 17-27, caught a cultivation charge post retirement.
Heck my Dr's kid/childhood neighbor just got out of federal prison for green and white trafficking.

Not a close friends, but a few years ago I responded to a meth lab explosion (fire/ems) and the victim-cook was a guy I would have called a friend in high school.

He just got out of prison and sent me a facebook friend request a couple of months ago. I declined.

I knew the kid in the above story. He was a year younger than me but had an older brother the same age as me.

Older brother is one of the nicest people I knew growing up. Family was from an upper middle class area.

Growing up the kid in the story hung out with a sketchy crowd. Played on HS basketball team.

A couple of friends did about 6 months for selling green and white in college.

My wife testified in the trial for one of her high school classmates (at least at one time, she was kicked out of about every private school in Memphis that wasn't all boys) who was convicted of murdering her mother

Pretty much all of them are crooks, but only a couple of them landed in jail.
Doctors, lawyers and preachers get away with a lot of things.

I went to school with a guy named Jamey Conner. Wasn't really friends with him but didn't picture him as the type of cat to get caught up in a murder.

I've had a few classmates/old friends who did time for drug related offenses. A guy I was acquainted with from a high school not far from mine shot and killed a police officer when he was about 19 or 20. Another dude, that I attended high school with, killed a guy over a woman. He actually set the guy's house on fire in the middle of the night, waited on him to come running out, then blasted him with a shotgun.

I've had three really bad ones.
1: played on my HS football team. Our junior year he robbed a gun, and thought it was unloaded, and accidentally shot his friend in the face. He's in jail for like 20 some years for attempted murder in either the second or third degree, and manslaughter. He's 22 now, and won't get out till he's in his late 30s or 40s.
2. My cousin robbed my uncles car and crashed it drunk twice. The second time, she wrecked it into a police car. One of her freinds overdosed on Heroin at my uncles house. She's been in and out of jail and rehab. She's only 21.
3. Another kid on my HS team, played football for coastal Carolina. I think he was dealing weed, shrooms and pills. But he was also growing shrooms in his dorm room and he got pinned for multiple felonies. You could probably look it up. It happened within the past two years.

My best friend in grade school grew up to be a total hood. By high school he was doing hard drugs and breaking into houses.

On New Years Eve 1992/93 he was involved in a high profile drunk driving death of a prominent citizen. He went to the pen for about a year. If it had happened these days it would have been a minimum of 10-15 years behind bars. In a way, he got lucky.
