Two-faced and nosy.
Gives my wife shite for not calling her often, but then cuts all theirconversations short with curt little insults. Talks nice to my face but bad about me to wifey behind my back. Tries to have a fricking say in what I say about my wife on social media. Promises to visit wherever we're stationed, never shows (citing money woes), then we find out later her and my FIL bought new cars and a camper and have been flying/driving all over the country to see/visit my air force brother in law at his soccer tournaments.
So happy they're going to be moving to the east coast when wifey an I move back to Texas. Started out cordial with them but they can keep their damn distance from their daughter since they've made it clear they playfavorites and hurt her feelings all the time.

Nah, not really.
I just hate the fact that none of my husband's family speak directly. If they want something, it's all vague hints for people to figure out and then they get pissed when people can't read minds.
If they don't like something - same thing.
Just say what's on your mind! They get SO flustered when I tell them "no". Their people don't do that - they just agree to shite, bitch about agreeing to it, and then don't do what they agreed to.
All to avoid "making someone mad".
Luckily, I trained that out of my husband long ago.

It's like they think saying "No, I really don't feel like going to the mall today. I'm pretty tired and need to clean up around the house" = "I DON'T WANT TO GO TO THE MALL BECAUSE I HATE YOU AND EVERYTHING ABOUT YOU!".
If you don't want to do something, don't do it.
If you don't have the stones to say "no", then I don't want to hear you bitch and moan about having to do it.
Just last week my son had his spring game and we all went out to eat afterwards. I wanted japanese and MIL said that was fine. After we ate they came over to our house and all she did was whine and moan about how "japanese food always makes my hair and clothes smell and makes my stomach hurt, I really don't like it".
I was all "Then why the frick didn't you say 'no'?".
I feel terrible about complaining about her because she's very kind and generous and does a lot for our kids but his whole family is like that. But bitching about her here helps me not snap on her, I guess.

Kind and generous.
My mother in law is awesome. Couldn't have asked for a better one.

I caught mine trying to run trouble in my marriage. She took something I said, completely changed it into something else and texted my wife quoting me. I took a screensahot of wife's phone, texted it to mine. replied "jesus" with mine. replied "I know" with my wife's phone.. took a screenshot of all that and texted the MIL and said quit twisting my words and trying to create problems in my marriage.
We didn't hear from her for 3 weeks.
