I feel far more free than when I considered myself a Christian. I no longer judge others for things that are beyond their control.
You were doing it wrong.
I really don't want to start this because I can literally write a book on the subject. All I will say is this. The American Church has much to change and overcome. There are beliefs and attitudes taught which are not, nor have ever been the truth. However, atheists will never be able to make the church capitulate to its wrong doings with their current methods. The change must be affected from within the Church. Which is where believers like myself come in. The Church does not like what I teach on some issues, and atheists would not like what I teach on others.
I can literally break down any concern or "gotchya" regarding scripture you would like to discuss. Though, obviously there are some things that are unknowable, both in science and the Bible.
However, that discussion would never do any good. Every time I answered one, you would find another, we would be going in circles for days.
So, for now, let us agree to disagree and get into it another time. I would like to sometime, if everyone can remain civil.
I haven't really slept in roughly 48 hours, so now isnt the best time to attempt the use of my full cognitive powers. I simply wanted to add my first few thoughts to the thread.

Yeah, no. Not even close.
There are so many more denominations out there than Baptists, Presbyterians, and Snake handling hyper holiness morons.
I prescribe to none of those 3.

He says, in a check in thread that has Christianity as one of the requirements.

My ancestors some extra "help" on the plantation and after their labor practices were forcibly changed I'm pretty sure some of them killed Indians for money.
That makes me like, super-shitlord, right?

I feel similarly regarding several Catholic beliefs. The truth is neither where Protestants, nor Catholics, think or want it to be. Somewhere in the between is where it resides.

Then why did God make it the only way to be a Christian for like 1500 years?

You can say that again.

My ancestor was a slave Owner who presided over the tribunal of the 2nd largest slave revolt. He had 11 black men heads cut off and put on a pike along the ms river as an example to others.
That makes me like Zeus of the shitlords

I sure don't feel guilty about being a (relatively) conservative white Christian male.
God made me that way and who am I to second guess Him.
Let me also state that I don't think I'm 'better' than any other race, gender or sexual orientation. Just satisfied with what I am.

I kind of agree.
The Dispensationalist doctrines that Southern Baptists believe in come from Scofield.
Irony is a group of people not wanting their religion to be interpreted for them by Priests, but then consider Scofield to be more authoritative than the actual prophets in the Bible.

Is this supposed to be a gotchya? Because it isn't even close to one.
As I said earlier. Tomorrow, or another time If you want, we can really dig in and go at it. Won't do any good either way, but discussion is fun nonetheless.
