I heard it like this: Why did the dead baby cross the road?..it was stapled to a chickens back.

For some reason, dead baby jokes were popular 35 years ago.

Oops, sorry, somebody already said it.

The dead baby joke is from The Dark Tower 3 The Waste Lands.
Eddie Dean told it first on the road to Lud.

It was already an old joke before those books were written, I probably first heard that in the 70s.

Dark tower series was awesome and is pretty well regarded by fans of the genre (who don't agree on anything)

I read the first 3 I think, then there was a long gap until the next one came out, and I never did continue.

Roland was an old king in one of King's early books;Eyes Of The Dragon. Randall Flagg was also a character in that book.

You should start over and read thru them all. I am in my third reading. I like the way King writes, and the fact that characters in other books show up in later books..About every three years I will reread .

I've listened to the entire series on audiobooks twice. The two guys who read them are really good. I will very likely listen to them again in the near future.
