Charity softball tourney for an active duty Soldier with terminal cancer in LA  (Posted on 5/30/13 at 11:01 pm)00
Hey fellas, I know Baton Rouge is a ways away but I also know a lot of y'all live all over the state. It for a friend and I'm gonna do all I can. Please read.

There is a charity softball tournament this Sunday June 2nd at the Soldiers Athletic Complex on Fort Polk(Next to Leesville). ASA slow pitch rules(no metal cleats), co-ed or not, it doesn't matter. You can field all men, all women or a mix.

This is to benifit an active duty Soldier that has been recently diagnosed with terminal kidney cancer. The Drs have given him a year max but he is going through trial treatments. Because they are trials and not approved through his health insurance provider, it's out of pocket cost.

The entry is $10 per player and due before the first game Sunday at 9:00am. I'm sorry I don't have more info but the two women that have coordinated this event have royaly screw the pooch. They had no clue what they were doing but would not accept help from people that did know because they are completly in it for the recognition and praise of doing this. It's going to fail and this Soldier is a friend of mine.

I'm afraid because these two women screwed up, only 2-3 teams will show up. Most of the post league doesn't know about it, the units stationed here never got word, the league off post never got word, it's going to fail. I'm sorry to say it but I had a couple local business owners ready to donate money for the winning team, tshirts and trophies but these two women told me to piss off that they had it under control. So unfortunatly there will probably be no prize for the winning team, this would be an event that you can buy into purely out of the goodness of helping people in a time of need.

I'm trying to get the word out because the sorrow I would feel for my friend from a botched charity event greatly outweighs the joy of watching these ladies fail.

So if you got a team near the area this Sunday June 2nd and wanna play, let me know and post here. I'll tell the ladies that we have more teams. Let your local league know also! Thanks
