The Birmingham Stallions competed in all three USFL seasons, 1983–1985. During their run, they were one of the USFL's more popular teams, and seemed to have a realistic chance of being a viable venture had the USFL been better run.

I went to all the Stallions home games with my dad when I was a little kid. We had season tickets. I know the 'Ham can support a major pro-sports franchise (excepting maybe baseball). Hell, the old Birmingham Americans did well and they had a CFL franchise for year with the Barracudas.

Anyone remember the old Birmingham Bulls from the WHL? I think they still hold the record for most penalty box time handed out exceeding Philadelphia's Broad Street Bullies

Edit: Bulls played in the old WHA and CHL. WHA got folded into the NHL. Bulls had to go to the CHL as the NHL viewed southern and western warm weather teams as not viable

The Birmingham Stallions

I knew the guy who owned them. Same guy that caused the S&L bust in the 80's. Claimed very valuable farm in FL as primary residence as they could not go after it in the bankruptcy.
