The Allman Brothers are better and its not even close. I love Lynard Skynard but they simply carried on what the Allman Brothers started. It is a shame Duane Allman died so young I would love to see where he would be now.

TP ain't southern rock.

As far as the bands from No FL:
Skynyrd & then the Rossington Collins Band (Jax)
ABB (sort of.....they're a GA band that did a ton of gigging in Jax)
Hatchet (Jax)
.38 Special (Jax) (also not your classic southern rock sound but have a few songs that qualify)
Blackfoot (Jax)
Johnny Van Zant Band (Jax) (before he fronted LS)

Love these - Skynyrd forever being my favorite & the best of all of them, imo.

Weird bc I just got done listening to Flirtin With Disaster & Train Train before reading this thread.

And Tom Petty might not be considered technically southern rock, but love his music, pretty much everything he's ever done.

If you like Hatchet, I recommend listening to Devil's Canyon and Silent Reign of Heroes CDs. Quality stuff.
