Congratulations on your progress.

I'm in a similar path atm. I gained 40 lbs last summer/fall and on March 9th I weighed in at 6'1 250 lbs ( ). I'm down to 231 now but I don't have any before/after pics. I should have. I'll take pics now and if I reach my goal of 210 by Jun 26 (going on a cruise) I'll post the results if they are worth it.

thanks man. just take it one day at a time and you'll get there. def post those after pics if you think of it.

thankfully I thought of documenting the change after I had been working out since the first of last October. Was originally at 250 when I started but I'm obviously at 242 in the before pic. This'll be the second time I've lost weight like this so I knew I could do it. That plus getting certified as a personal trainer helped a lot. but the first time I lost a lot of weight was back in high school and regretfully I don't really have before and after pics. So this time I knew what was coming and wanted to document it. I took a year off because I tore my right pec doing decline bench press, you can kinda see the indention on my right pec in the pictures above from where I tore it.

Genuinely happy for you. I've been working out 4 days a week since Dec but I can't bring myself to eat as well as I should. I need to get my shite right.

I run, do push ups, and sit ups. That's it. I don't weight train at all. Eat lots of baked chicken and a ton of green food and take a bunch of vitamins. But, I also eat the frick out of some oreos. I think the oreos are the key to my diet.

Eating right and taking in the right amount of protein is the hardest part, IMO. Admittedly, I'm that guy, and I don't do legs as much as chest, shoulders, arms and back. I also lack the ab exercises I need.

I'm also pretty pissed that prohormones were taken off the shelf due to the new law. Mass Plexx was incredible.

Congrats. The mirror image in your 2nd pic makes it looks like you are wearing a frilly skirt, but I suppose it could be true.

hawgfaninc, what type of ab exercises do you do?

Supine crunches? Supine bicycle? Supine 6 inches? Sit-ups?

see eating right is easy for me and hell the working out part comes easy to. love doing both.

really enjoy designing my own diet to maximize it and designing my own workout routine. then making small changes to get the results I want.

yea :(

hopefully it won't last. combine my hard work and diet with those prohormones...

Haters gonna hate. Keep up the good work. Good combination of mass/tone. I'm in the "I have to eat 5000+ calories per day and power lift to gain any weight" crowd. I've gained about 30 lbs over the last three years of solid muscle without supplements. Strength gains are still great, but mass gains have been stagnant lately. Likely gonna look for a safe supplement or two.

I always run first then do abs. probably would be better if I did abs then ran. and I may do that pretty soon, just last time I tried it my running was not at the pace I wanted.

but when I do abs I generally do three routines of a bunch of different ab exercises.

1st I've got to where I like to do 10 pullups in betweeen each routine so I do those first. but after that I do a variation of the supine bicycle, 20 on my right side, 20 on my left, then 20 on my middle

2nd I do 30 supine leg raises

3rd I do 30 seconds of supine stationary feet 6 inches off the floor then transitioning to 30 seconds of alternating kicking my feet while they're 6 inches off the ground.

4th I do a minute of a plank

5th I get on a picnic bench where I run where I'm sitting normal. then I do crunches with the tables top holding my knees down and my torso going down to where it's parallel with my thighs. do 20 crunches left, 20 on the right, and 20 in the middle.

then repeat for two more routines

right now my diet is:

How many calories a day is that and do you seriously just eat the same thing over and over again every single day?

yea that was my goal. I didn't want to go pure mass. been there got my tshirt, that was when I tore my right pec doing a 6 reps decline with 345. and I didn't want to go pure shredding, got my tshirt there too. wanted to try and find the best of both worlds, the grey area if you will. if anything I prefer to go more toward the pure shredding side.

so I designed my workout routine to have a lot of cardio and my weight routine to pyramid. that is on a set when I was doing weights I would do 8 reps, then 6 reps, 4 reps, 2 reps, and finally I burn out with 20 reps. so I got the light stuff to burn calories, plus the heavy stuff to build muscle.

Couldn't tell ya man. My main concern is to make sure it's well balanced and healthy. it's kinda hard to explain, I just kinda 'feel' my way to designing a meal that offers an adequate amount of protein, fiber, and other nutrients. if I'm trying to lose I eat less, gain I eat more.

I could count calories and get more precise with my weight gains and losses. Which I may do at some point if I feel like it. but the system I got has worked so far.

yup.

I've had a lot of people say they couldn't do it. but that's how I make sure I'm maximizing what I'm taking in. I eat the same thing over time so I can see a pattern then make a minor change to see the effect. if it makes my diet better I add it into my regular diet and if it doesn't make it better I take it back out.

Yeah there is absolutely no way that I could do that.

I definitely admire your dedication. I couldn't even fathom being that regimented. Some day my metabolism may slow down but up until now I've always had the whole naturally skinny thing on my side. I may just let myself go when that day comes if that is seriously what you have to do to stay in shape.

Just eating healthy every chance you get is the biggest thing. a healthy lifestyle goes a long way. say no to diets. you don't have to go to the extremes that I do. I do that because I enjoy it. But what really helps my dedication is that I'm passionate about health and fitness.
