Good. I had to learn how to write cursive in the third grade. I'm 23. My 18 yr old brother never learned how.

Disagree. Cursive sucks and is pointless. It's like learning French.

People would cringe at how much "text lingo" has bled over into writing for kids, especially teenagers who are at the age where they've been texting for several years now. 2 for to, cuz for cousin, etc.

It's a product of the evolution of technology. I know that languages are constantly changing because of influences in societies but the blazing speed of technological developments seems to be corrupting English, especially, into something that is frequently difficult to understand.

French isn't pointless if you travel to France. It's a beautiful language.

You're right, French is more valuable than cursive. Cursive is like an appendix. There's absolutely no point in it but for some reason its still around.

It's also a secondary language for some African countries which is useful given the range of African dialects.

I'm all for learning to write in cursive. It is necessary to develop the awesome brand of a print/cursive hybrid for daily writin like I have

Like it.

You're teaching kids a skill. Sure it's largely an impractical one, but more importantly you're teaching them how to learn a skill. And maybe on a psychological level you're teaching them to take pride in their undertakings.

frick that. If anything, teach more English. Half of this country complains about immigrants not being able to speak English. Do you want to know the ironic part? They don't speak English fluently themselves.

No more math. People in this country can barely solve a Sigler variable equation. I think it's why nobody has the capacity to figure shite out.

That is what math is, problem solving and the upper levels are very applicable to work/life situations from a methodology standpoint

I have mixed feelings on the subject, while I think it would be nice if we taught all students to write in it I think we have more important problems in our educational system and should worry about things like history, math, and grammar before we spend resources on cursive

The amount of ppl in this country who can't answer basic questions like who was the 1st POTUS or who is the current VPOTUS is simply baffling and depressing

And FTR, I was taught cursive in 4th grade and was pretty good at it. They told us we would ABSOLUTELY HAVE to know it and it would be mandatory for the rest of our lives

Fast forward to 6th or 7th grade and we used it for nothing. That always pissed me off
