Reason #37 I decided against becoming a teacher.
Part of the reason public schools are in the state they are in today is because the students know the teachers can't do anything to them, and if they do, they know mama and daddy will come running and blame the teacher for whatever Little Johnny did.

Yep.

I'm all for kids getting their arse whooped, whether they did anything wrong or not, but THAT JOB BELONGS TO ME. Nobody's gonna lay hands on my kids.

Have you walked around a large urban public high school or even middle school recently? I really don't see many teachers improving their situations by getting physical with thugs.

I don't have a child, but I believe I would be ok with it. I really won't know until I am in that situation though. I know I had my fair share of getting paddled growing up at my school. Parents just had to sign a waiver. I am not honestly sure what happened if you were not allowed to get paddled back in elementary. I know in middle school through high school one got Saturday detention if they couldn't be paddled. Saturday detention was a stronger deterrent than being paddled to everyone anyways. 3 licks that only hurt for less than a minute or a Saturday of class work. Not a hard decision.

I believe you have kids. Are you saying that your children's schools have/had permission to use physical discipline upon your children?

I agree, but the solution I think is to get the teachers to consistently make life inconvenient for the parents in their punishments. Johnny hit somebody? Suspend him for the day, and make mom come pick his arse up. Late to class? Suspended for the day, come get his arse mom. Hold him back when needed. Even the pussiest of parents will get tired of this and find a way to deal with it in the home.

The school my children attend has a corporal punishment policy and I've signed off on it for my kids.

Problem is, teachers don't want to hold a problem child back. They'll pass them so they don't have to deal with them again next year.
Not talking about ALL teachers here, but they're definitely out there.

Not an option at our high school.
We have kids at our school that are out of control. They know there are no reprecussions for anything they do short of killing someone. Don't even get me started about our bullshite police dept and their lack of enforcement. Again, for the police to get involved, the kid basically has to kill someone.
Now when parents actually parent, you don't need the school to do anything. The problem is when you get a bunch of pussies that believe their children can't do anything wrong and do everything to placate them.

Also, lots of pussies up in this thread.
Lulz, and you're the one gloating a grown man spanked your arse.
I do the disciplining of my kids in regards to paddling. No other adult will receive my permission to provide it.
All this, man. What dude thinks it's normal for a grown man to slap up against you over and over again?
Aside from certain gay football players.

Back in the day our football coach
would paddle players for bad grades,
acting up, Ect..
That was Jr. high and high school.
I was ok with it, it wasn't severe.
It was just the way it was for a boy.
Now, my teenage son getting paddled
by his coach is fine.
My daughter? No way.

The schools are hypocritical. They want to spank your child yet they will call child services if you do the same.
