It's something for team specific posters to do and share with the Rant in regards to their teams. And to participate in with other posters. To pass the time in the off-season. Obviously the voting end is during the season.

99% of people blogging on teams that don't have an official media pass are running with what they've seen on the internet, via Twitter, via media guides, and practice reports. Occasionally you may have someone who knows a guy or two on the team, but then it's biased reporting at best.

And I can't speak for other schools, but I know Kentucky only has one open practice in the fall. So unless you're a guy writing for a major publication that has obtained media credentials from the school, it's all speculation anyway. I don't see Chicken putting out a major publication that covers all SEC schools just so he can attempt to obtain media credentials for people to be on the sidelines for SEC previews on a message board.

Also from what I've seen, the people who have actually read the previews and posted in the preview threads so far have been pretty complimentary. Unless I missed something.

It pretty much is that already. I don't know of another online forum with such a large collection of different SEC followers.

Maybe for boards who have heavier traffic. I know for ours I like it out on the Rant because it's more than a handful of us participating in the discussion.

Maybe so. But my point was more so addressing your issue with it being guys who aren't on the sideline at the practice reporting. They're not going to be unless it's a team-specific site or a major website that already has credentials. I'd rather have some guys writing stuff even if it's been information gathering for them (and you can gather quite a bit from various media outlets) because it's not just a copy and paste of some national guy at Yahoo who only covers Alabama, Auburn, and LSU.

As I said, I've read the ones they've posted so far and thought they're pretty informative and entertaining.

I was talking about SEC-dedicated sites, ol' sport.
