Just curious of thoughts and, obviously, anecdotal experiences.

I am thinking of reducing my wheat consumption in an effort to reduce the waist line, but I don't want to eliminate it altogether to get the health benefits of some whole grains.

So is modern wheat a poison or do you not buy into that shite?

Honestly I don't know what or who to believe. I do know one person with a legit wheat allergy and thru her I have discovered just how many foods contain wheat.

Yeah I have spent the past week just observing what foods have wheat in them. Holy shite. My entire pantry is pretty much wheat. I think at least a third of the refrigerator is. They don't lie when they say it's in everything. Even cans of soup have wheat in them.

It is snake oil.

Your waist line is a result of falling testosterone levels due to age, hormones produced by stress, and alcohol consumption.

I did it. took a little bit for my body to get used to, but once it did I felt a lot better than I did when I was eating gluten. however like with any diet you can't sustain it, say no to diets.

but brown rice definitely is a better option than whole grain bread. so I still do brown rice over bread every chance I get.

While there may be some few people who are sensitive to wheat/gluten, the mania surrounding the issue is insane. The best way to know if you need to avoid gluten is to be tested by your personal physician.

If you are allergic then you cut gluten out of your diet, not just cut back. I think the driving force behind the current anti-gluten fad is that so many people think it's the reason for their obesity. They seem to figure that if gluten isn't in their foods then they can eat all they want.

I'm not sensitive or allergic to gluten. I cut it out of my diet and felt a lot better by doing it.

it's just pretty much impossible to sustain because, like was said in the op, so many foods have gluten in it.

Well, with wheat comes carbs and reducing them is a good thing for most Americans. We simply eat too much carb-rich foods. Fat-rich foods are also responsible for the incredible average daily calorie intake by most people.

Gluten, however, is a protein. Americans, especially women, don't get nearly enough of this vital nutrient from their diets. If you're severely reducing your intake of wheat-containing products, you should be sure to include other grains so that their forms of proteins are available to your body.

Raising the amount of protein and reducing carbs and fat would benefit some 70% of Americans who are overweight or obese.

My gym writes my diets for me. Wheat and sugar are never in them. For carbs I do wild rice, potatoes, or oats. A wheat-free diet is absolutely sustainable, but you have to do your food prep.

There is nothing wrong with gluten, period.

Loading up on carbs of any kind are going to make you fat.

Actually, certain people ARE allergic to it. Mrs. Tantal, who is a size 2, will look pregnant after 2 slices of pizza and her stomach will hurt. She just can't eat it. I'm not allergic to it, I just like to keep my carbs fairly low, so I follow whatever diet my trainer writes for me.

"Gluten free" foods that mimic their wheat-containing counterparts often contain lots of cornstarch, which is a glycemic nightmare.

I eat mostly non-grain. I feel better that way, and it keeps me off the diabeetus.

Because Mrs. Tantal probably has induced a form of intolerance, probably through diets if she's that thin. More than likely she has killed off a lot the bacterial strains that are good at breaking down that specific carb. If she ate a small bite of pizza, a little a day, her body would adjust over a week or two and she would probably fell much better for it. Probiotics is being hailed as some cure-all, which is dumb, but it's not complete bullshite.

People with a true gluten allergy, called celiac disease, are few and far between. They are pretty pissed about this fad.

If you want to lose weight then eat Greek yogurt for breakfast and tuna for dinner. Eat food with lots of protein.

The end.

She does the whole probiotic thing, but she was fat for a while (thyroid crapped out) and she couldn't eat it then either. This is not something that's been induced by dieting.

to me it's a crock of horse shite

humanity literally owes it's existence to the development of wheat. IT's the first domesticated plant in human history. You're trying to tell me that a plant that everyone has lived on for onwards of 10K plus years is killing us that's fricking crazy. Same thing with corn. I have a friend that's really big into heatlh and she gets on me for eating core I'm like girl frick you corn is the shite lol. It was good enough for the Indians when's the last fricking time you seen a fat indian depicted in history

the problem is that we as people do not burn enough calories so try to alter our diet to now fit our caloric intake. You don't have wheat belly you have a belly period. exercise. do some shite. we as humans were not designed to sit down in front of a computer all day or consume a six pack of beer everyday lol

I watch what i eat, but i use common sense mixed with shite i like. I love corn. I eat corn on the cob 2-3 times a week. I don't go crazy with wheat, but i don't go out of my way to avoid it either. But I work out everyday and make sure i spend at least 90 mins in the gym 6 days a week because i work behind a computer all day
