Took a trip when back in 1989 with a buddy and his dad up the Tennessee River. Started in Guntersville and went through Nickajack and Chickamauga locks and camped on an island overnight. This was done in an 18" ski boat. Coming out of the locks were hell, hit a regatta and the wakes they left coming out of them were hell. Thought we were gonna sink.

I met an old man here (he owns a plumbing fixtures business) that made the trip from Montgomery-Mobile with a couple of friends,on a flat bottom boat,back in the 1950s.
They were celebrities for that,and were interviewed by local radio stations and newspapers all along the way, I think he said it took them 10 days.
He had a great scrapbook for the whole thing,and I could tell he really enjoyed telling me all about it.
