Once again, I did a bad job wording the question. I would change it but what good is it now. Everyone on the fricking board has read it.
What originally made me want to ask it is that I had a teacher in college who fit the mold of what I described in my post. Wore black everyday. People I knew also wondered why, and it's obvious and hard to miss because it was a 2 day a week course in a classroom with 25 people or so on it. So I was just wondering why he chose to do this.

I'm not saying you did, I said that because I knew people from years back who used to toss that term around as if it were a joke. And called autistic people dumb.
I'm pretty sure there have been a couple of brilliant physicists in history who were autistic. Even though that was the case, they were still intellectual giants.
