Normally, I would agree. However, the black girl wasn't even nominated or supported by her own sorority (they actually supported another sorority's candidate) because another group of people threatened to alienate them. That's really fricked up.

It's fairly shitty but I'm not going to be upset about it. 18-22 year old sorority girls at Alabama are among the last group of people I expect to make good decisions based on individual preferences.

The REC is not as inherently exclusive (other than money) as the Machine. 'Old Row' controls the Machine, but anybody with enough money and love for Bama can be in the REC.

This shite will all end once it starts hurting recruiting. Let some of the top black players in the nation starting publicly speaking out against Bama because of this and UA will destroy the whole damn Greek system.

The Bama Greek system in a nutshell. It really is a pox on the University and they should all be kicked off campus and no more affiliation with the school. Groupthink at its worst.

Unfortunately, with the mega sorority and fraternity houses being built at Bama the Greek system is only going to get stronger and I say that as someone who was a member of an "Old Row" fraternity in the late 90s. I think the criticism of the Greek system goes a bit too far sometimes in how the entire system is lumped together but there admittedly are way too many members who take themselves WAY too seriously.
I will give the sororities a little credit for finally starting to integrate in recent years. Way overdue but it's slowly picking up. Unfortunately, the homecoming queen selection is dominated by an "Old Row" voting block that out votes an overall campus that couldn't give two sh### who is named Homecoming queen. If they did the endorsed Greek system candidate would never win.
