Jesus, that's not the point of the thread.

Nevermind you all. I thought it was a simple fun topic but apparently not.

95% of LZ's songs were stolen from other bands.

Led Zeppelin is probably the greatest cover band of all time.

Straight up. When I saw this thread, I thought it was the best songs they stole. Beyond blues guys like Willie Dixon, they even stole stairway to heaven from a band they opened for on a tour, early in their careers.

Yeah man, if it wasn't for zeppelin "stealing" their songs those artists would of struck gold.

Since I've Been Loving You

Dazed and Confused

I Can't Quit You Babe

and a dozen others that us lilly white fricks would've never heard if not for LZ

I'm glad they stole them, and then ripped apart. For my enjoyment.

Zeppelin is without a doubt the most highly overrated band of all time.

... That's ok, OG; they're all pretty much "meh" ... except for Billy Squier. He was pretty good. ... Never was a fan of Zeppelin, particularly Robert Plant. I'm sure you remember them in their "prime," as do I, although I was pretty young, (like 3 or 4) but so were my parents, so I was listening to rock & popular music from birth. ... Zeppelin's music was for the most part annoying then, and it hasn't gotten any less annoying over the years, no matter how much it's played. They're a perfect example of how good musicians don't always equate to a good band. Cashmere & Stairway to Heaven are their only songs I can listen to in their entirety. ... I think the entire Zeppelin following was largely based on people being stoned or tripping, and it translated into "cool" for following generations. Trying to listen to most of their stuff all the way through, especially Plant's nails on chalkboard shrieks, gave me a migraine then, & it still does.

If you think they didn't develop their own sound that influenced rock and roll for generations than you are delusional

And LZ blatantly ripped off lyrics and riffs from blues artists without ever giving credit to the original writers. That's not "making a song their own", it's plagerism. Do you think its a coincidence that they have been sued a number of times and lost?

A good number of the " great" bands of the 60's developed their own sound using the Blues as their inspiration... Stones, Beatles, Who. However, LZ took it to the next level and actually used lyrics of other artists without giving credit.

No ... Page, Bonham, & Jones were/are great musicians, particularly Page & Bonham; but Led Zeppelin isn't even close to being in the same elite category as the Stones, Beatles, & Who, neither creatively nor influentially. They never were.
