frick MPD for backing down to the media and these people who have no idea what happened besides a guy being injured while being detained.

Watched the video, looks like it went as described by the victim's family.

"He's Indian, he don't speak a lick of English"

"I don't know what the problem is but he won't listen."

I'll blame the officer but goddamn what a bunch of pussies we have who call the police on every "suspicious" thing they see.

Ok, it looked like he was already restrained though

I guess the just cops didn't have patience for someone that doesn't speak English. He didn't appear to be a threat to anyone

The officer didn't use any dirty tactics or any illegal choke holds, or sat on top of the guy, or put a bullet in the guy, just a takedown you would normally see with cops...just sucks the guy landed wrong and the cops weight landed on him and the guy injured...99% sure that if he only got a bruise or cut that this story wouldn't even had made it further than the police report the officers had to write.

Well when you aren't cooperating, pulling away, walking off...it's hard to assess how much of a threat someone is

Well when you just arrived to the country a few days before and don't understand a word of English, it might be hard to cooperate and follow orders. That guy wasn't a threat to those cops in the least bit.

because they knew all that at the time..the call they got was a suspicious person walking around a neighborhood snooping and treated it as such being overly cautious as they should, whether he knows English or not....could they have had more patience, you bet.

AFTER the fact, of course we know now he wasn't.

They did know that. He told them that as soon as they approached him, and you can hear one of the cops in the video tell the one that drives up that he doesn't speak a lick of English.

I hope officer Slaughter took good notes. He just learned an invaluable lesson on what he should NOT do in this situation should he encounter a similar scenario in the future...

What really sucks is that some cops think this kind of thing is ok. The "could have been worse" excuse holds no water. You're on the unpopular side of the argument.

Him not knowing English or being a foreigner wouldn't stop him from being a criminal so they took good measures in doing their job and did what was necessary to make sure he didnt have any weapons or anything else, and i'll stand behind saying that

I grew up in Madison, lived there for most years of my life, The Madison Police, used to be just heavy on writing tickets, but really decent people in general. Mostly local guys, that would have to answer for their actions from friends, neighbors and relatives.

I don't really know exactly when that all changed, and they started hiring a lot of officers from outside the area, but they became much more aggressive as a whole.

Back in about 1999, an Off Duty Madison Cop that was riding around with his girlfriend at 3am in his patrol car, makes a stop of 2 cousins out riding around and ends up shooting them both 60 yards from the end of my driveway, both died from their wounds later, they were unarmed, and nothing was found in their car.
I hate to go to Madison anymore.
