I have a friend with whom I have this very conversation at least twice a month. Having a chick call his job pretending to be his probation officer, having another chick say he robbed her and got him arrested, another chick who stalks his parents' house at 2 in the morning. And that's all from the last 6 months.

Well, we are upper primates after all. We're more like chimpanzees than bonobos. If we were more like the latter, we'd be comparing the sizes of our penises as battle rather than trying to kill each other, figuratively most often but literally in too many cases, for a piece of pussy.

The only comment I will make here, because my opinions are documented, is that you are all ignoring the 2nd part of this issue. If we force women to carry unwanted pregnancies to term, how will we care for those unwanted children? Our foster system doesn't work, and adoptions are astronomical in the US - that's why so many couples adopt overseas. Until we fix the issues of abuse, poverty and all the other things these unwanted children face, we are short-sighted.

As a Christian, I find the dynamic of the social conservative fascinating. Let's force someone to bring a life into the world that they do not want. And they will "help" that person change their mind, feed and clothe them while they are pregnant, give them medical care, etc. Then, once the baby is born, they are all for reducing the social programs that care for these children. They aren't really "pro-life", just pro-birth.

I get it. You're looking for other ways to decrease unwanted pregnancies. I support it.

I just am jaundiced by the reality that if a girl can't act responsibly with the act of sex, she's not going to act responsibly in taking the pill. A guy who can't act responsibly with sex won't act responsibly with a condom.

And a system where the kids can push a "reset button" (at least that's what they think) with an abortion encourages the earlier options to be taken even less seriously. There's always a backstop.
