February 1999 - I had a staph infection settle in my lower spine. At first, I thought I had the flu. Back pain, fever and headaches were killing me. Finally, I could not walk. Spinal "burn" is very serious pain...you don't want it.

Infectious Disease docs tried for month's but I was slipping away. They did not have the weapons. I fired them...it saved my life.

May 1999 - a neurosurgeon surgically remove the infection. My spine had to regenerate the bone loss. The surgeon said if the bone does not grow back...NOTHING below the waist ever again. So, I laid in a nursing home for 10 weeks flat on my back. I could not even tilt the bed. Did everything in bed...yep, everything. Then I went to rehab to learn to walk again. Lots of pain. At this point I had lost 45 lbs.

July 1999 - second spine surgery. Fusion from S1-L3. Hell of a x-ray. Two rods, two bridges, eight screws and two ceramic cages.

I did not work for NINE MONTHS that year. Neuropathy in both feet now. I now walk and ride a Harley bagger.

June 2014 - replaced a broken metal rod and extended the fusion from S1-L2.

Now - the 2014 operation did not work. He wants to replace the hardware and fuse S1-L1. Sum-bitch.

Please tell me more about your hang-nail.

Edit: Don't ever be afraid to fire a doc. I had so many blood cultures that my veins collapsed. So, they put a pic-line direct into my heart. I ripped it out when I overdosed on morphine. I later learned that morphine is a derivative of cocaine. I had wild/super hallucinations, plus I was a mean/mad SOB. Coming off the morphine, I was awake for 3 days. Plus, opioid-induced constipation were your gut just blows up giant. When that 30 lbs. of crap moves, it ain't pretty...it's everywhere. I'll never forget this male nurse picking my dirty arse up and carrying me to the john, I couldn't walk at the time.

I learned that there is always someone in worst shape that you. In rehab I saw this sickly-looking guy with a steel halo...bolts drilled directly into his skull. He couldn't do anything.

All I wanted was to walk my daughter down the aisle. AND I DID. Glory to God. He is not done with me yet.

Life is not for pussies.

I had pneumonia one time and my doctor wanted to admit me to the hospital but I had a very important meeting the next day in TN. Had him give me a decatron shot and high dose antibiotics and gutted it out. Got back from the meeting and did not leave the bed other than to piss for 3 days.

However the most miserable I have been was food poisoning where I did the trifecta!

You win!!!

ID Docs are some the brightest, weirdest most stubborn Docs!

Make sure you get a second opinion on the Neurosurgeon. Most are great but that rework is a big pay day for him....got to make sure it is really necessary.

I was sick from December 26th 2015 to mid February 2016 with the following:

December: Tonsillitis
January: Walking Pneumonia
February: Bronchitis

The latter deciding to hang around, which may have caused me to develop chronic Bronchitis.

Had 105.5 degree fever when i was in my early 20s. Felt like my skull was on fire and even felt soft to the touch. Smoked a fatty bo batty bowl and it dropped down to 103.1 in less than 5 minutes. Probably saved my life.

Viral meningitis my junior year in high school. Worst headache I'ver ever experienced and a spinal tap is no fricking joke.

Pleurisy my freshman year in college. Felt like a car was parked on my chest. I bed for a week, lost 14 pounds. I still have a ZAP from a party the weekend after where I look paler than pale and my face is all sunken in.

The first 20 weeks of both my pregnancies. "Morning" sickness my arse and it only lasting for 12 weeks my arse. I threw up roughly 8-10 times a day. In the first 20 weeks, lost 11 pounds the first pregnancy and had to have an IV 4 times. Second pregnancy I lost 16 pounds and had a IV 6 times and was admitted to the hospital once. I will never ever forget the feeling of throwing up an undigested grilled cheese sandwich and throwing up a drink that was still cold because it didn't stay in my stomach long enough.

Whenever people would say I had the "pregnancy glow" I would reply "Yeah. That's because I'm always flushed from running to the toilet to hork my face off."

The one time I had the flu for sure. I was probably 15. I just tried to sleep the whole time. When I wasn't burning up sweating I was freezing. My whole body hurt.

Allergies have been kicking my arse the last 3 days, worse it's ever been.

Could use a nice long day of rain and knock all this pollen out.
