If your wife likes country music, take her to Nashville.

You can find some very talented performers playing live music downtown.

Went to Nashville a couple of weeks ago and had a blast. If you go there go to the Yazoo City Brewery and take the tour. Savannah is meh.

The Smokies are the Smokies. Incredibly beautiful and incredibly tacky. We'd only go if it was snowy.

The NC side is a little less tacky. You can get to Highlands, NC in about 5 hours from Tuscaloosa, depending on when you hit Atlanta and its traffic. It's not technically in the Smokies, about an hour south, but it's kind of the 30A of the mountains. We go there 3 or 4 times a year, and are considering buying a place up there.

Never been this time of year though, so not sure what it's like. I know a lot of the rentals close up shop after New Year's for a couple of months.
