We have a condo on 30A that we have unlimited access to as well. I'd go with Nashville for just a weekend. Savannah is amazing, but you wouldn't get as much out of a weekend as you would a more extended time.

What's your goal of this vacation genro?
Relaxation, or stuff to do all the time?

That's a great question. We actually get plenty of relaxation and lovey-dovey time here at home. We want fun things to do and see.

What the hell is 30A ?
Ive been to Destin no less than 30 times but I've never heard of it.

It's the stretch of ocean view road between Destin and PCB. Mostly middle class, upper middle class and wealthy people stay there.
Seaside, Seagrove, Rosemary, Alys Beach, etc.

Okay. I was going to suggest the Ritz Carlton Reynolds plantation in Greensboro GA if you liked golf and she liked chick pampering....we go out there once a year for a long weekend(3 nights) but we go to just chill. I play golf and she does the whole pampering thing.
We actually went to New Orleans not too long ago and stayed in what I think was the garden district. The Columns Hotel. We really enjoyed our stay there. It was the type of place that still had that old charm. We went with the goal of not really partying, but taking in every thing New Orleans had to offer. It was great.

3 nights, 2-3 days depending on travel time

Nashville isn't too bad either. I'm just not a big fan really.
We enjoy Kansas City, but that's probably not close enough for you guys to drive. A little easier for us coming from Fayetteville.

In that case cross off Charleston and Savannah. Too far from Tuscy for a 3 night vacation.
Orange beach is nice, it's like Destin but fewer people but you said 30A so it will be like 30A with the same feel of fewer people, but the people are poorer and trashier.
Hang out at Floribama for 2 days, eat oysters and drink beer, there is a mullet toss coming up, and you don't spend so much time driving.

You've never been there during "snowbird" season then.
Posted on 2/15/14 at 9:20 pm to CatFan81
I've been there 365 days a year for many years

Nevermind then.
I'd love to stay down there all year long.
The condo that we stay at is rented out to snowbirds from Canada for two months solid in the winter in Seagrove.

Nashville is awesome. The weather down here has been really shitty, so if you don't do the beach, that's where I'd head.

I'd skip gulf shores, this time of year, you will be bored. Trust me.
I'd say, if you are considering the smokeys, do the biltmore/Asheville or cabin in the highlands.
Weather is just tricky right now.
I'd throw Nashville/new Orleans , if you just want to eat, drink and listen to music.
If you can wait, do st pattys in savanah.

Peridio Beach Resort in Orange Beach. Last couple of times I've been to the coast I stayed there and I enjoyed it.
You're really close to the better restaurants and right there on the beach.
It's not cheap though.

Let me preface my statement by saying this:
In no way am I trying to shite on Gulf Shores/Orange Beach. I am from the coast too and that's where we go about 65% of the time because it's just over an hour from the house.
However, if you're used to the Destin area, my advice is to stay in the Destin area. Once you get on that side of Pensacola the water is 1000x better. I would chose anywhere past Pensacola 10/10 instead of Gulf Shores, but that's just me.
