Ya I get that. I agree that there is no need to have long convos via text, just use the text to set up the face to face.

My grandma loves texting. She found the emoji keyboard and she thinks they're hilarious.

I spend a good portion of each day on the phone for business (answering questions and trouble shooting for most of our region in addition to way too many CCs) My wife and I do most of our communicating through text as a result

You need to define "serious".

I've been dating the same girl for two years and I can count on one finger the times we've had a "serious" conversation.

Texts to set up the phone or face to face convo. That basically sums it up.

I draw the line for serious convos at the condom or anal conversation.

Exactly.

I'm not talking about casual convo. I'm talking about serious discussions and arguments. It is not appropriate to discuss those things via text. I don't like talking on the phone, but I do expect to talk on the phone to the guy I'm talking to at least 2 times a week.

If a guy can't take the time to call me once in a while, he isn't worth my time.

I try to post those things on here all the time and they never work. I wish they would.

Communication just via text, big no no.

SO and I only communicate via text during the day but we see each other at night.

I like to initiate those with a picture message and a question mark.

What if he meets you for coffee, lunch or a drink after work instead? Struggling to understand the "phone" requirement.

That would be fine.

Let's say that the person lives out of town? Would you see it differently?

Talking to a serious SO is a minimum once a day for me. Text is cool all day and part of the night, but a voice conversation will be had once a day minimum.

A picture of a smiley face, a gun, and a video camera looks a whole lot better than posting "kill yourself while filming yourself."

Skype is your best friend.

If you're in a long distance relationship and you're using nothing more then text. Well. It's not a relationship.

Of course. If I was only seeing them every other week or so I would want to talk to them on the phone more often.

ETA: Video chat would be fine as well occasionally.

I'm cool with once or twice a week. I don't like to talk on the phone that much, but communicating strictly via text doesn't work for me.
