Not sure if germans here, or where it took place, but I read in the past 2 wks or so that there was a group of kids, hiding in a blindspot near a par 3. They would wait for a group to tee off, then pick one ball on the green, green somewhat hidden from the tee box, & run up & put it in the hole. Seems like there were a lot of celebrations on the 19th hole that day.

Played in a tournament last weekend where they had a $15K prize for a hole-in-one on a Par 3. There was no official or anyone monitoring the hole. Everyone could've cashed in if they had wanted to.

I got a hole in one on a 133 yard par 3 over a pond when I was 13. Not a hard shot but it was awesome

I've played golf for about 12 years now and I've only come close one time, and it was an awful shot. Hit a skimmer that just kept plodding it's way down to the green and eventually rolled up a few feet from the hole.

I've accepted the fact that I'll never ace one, and I'm ok with it.

If you could get your daughter to break 100 10-15 years ago, she could probably get a full ride to some colleges. I remember people saying that if you don't want to pay for college, teach your daughter how to play golf. Now, some of these girls are damn good. I think there's about to be a wave of young, talented golfers about to come through the ranks.

I went to high school with a girl that played on the golf team with us, she was never in the top 5 on the team and I never saw her break 85 and rarely broke 90. Full ride earned to Troy in Troy, AL. Meanwhile, four of us guys averaged 75 and lower and never got looked at except 1 of us got a partial to a community college.

I agree that these girls are good golfers with solid swings. They will be good if they keep the passion to keep playing and practicing.

As for the hole in ones discussion in here, they are about 90% pure luck. I have 3 but I am a good golfer that hits it close when I play more than once a year. I played a round with a guy who had played once in his life and he skulled a 5 wood on a 130 yard par 3, it hits a tree, bounces off a couple roots and runs up on the green and goes in the hole.
