Is it time to make a switch?

I know, I know. Backup QB is always the most popular guy but Lock has been flat out brutal. Crockett is our best player and having Zanders next to him makes him that much better.

Season is already over. I say give Zanders a start and see what happens.

Season isn't over.

Lots of winnable games still left on the schedule. I was hoping for a 3-3 start, but the record is still what most predicted at this point.

You're right though, Lock cannot go out and have days like today. Zanders needs a serious look at QB.

It's over. We are going to need to win 3 toss up games plus MTSU just to get to a shitty bowl no one cares about.

At least give it a shot. We can't win with Lock playing like that. We need to be more of a running team.

Man just stfu. You are way too pessimistic. We played LSU and Florida. Did we disappoint? Yes. But did you expect us to win either? We are gonna have an easier schedule coming up and we'll make a bowl.

If Zanders can't uplift this offense I kind of like the 3rd string qb who was throwing a few balls into windows in the spring game and one of the scrimmages.

It's not that we lost. Cmon. We don't need to sugar coat this. We're an atrocious football team.

We aren't going to win a road game.
We will struggle at home against teams like Vandy and Kentucky.

You can say we have a new coach and buy a year's grace. But Odom hasn't shown shite.

I like Zanders but it's still too much of a kneejerk decision to bench Lock. He's not a fit for Heupel's system but look at his talent. A couple of shitty games can't erase all of the upside he has. He played like shite today but he wasn't as bad as J'Mon in two games. He's a cancer IMO. He's a diva who plays when he wants to, not to mention his role in the protests.

I want to see though how well Zanders plays when he's not playing twos and when he's THE guy. Mizzou has had QB controversies since Blaine Gabbert and I'm sick of it. Stick with a guy and don't give in to fan pressure

Ok, I'll stfu but "we'll make a bowl game" is far from a guarantee. Again, we have to win every toss up game we have left. No slip ups, and that's best case scenario just to get to 6-6. We didn't just lose to LSU and Florida we were completely dominated. It's not being pessimistic to say we are a bad football team. That's what we are. Awful, actually.

As for it being a knee jerk move. Possibly, but we have nothing to lose. Lock is playing like shite. Let's see what Zanders can do.

It's getting to that point. If Lock can't get us to wins over MTSU and UK, I'd start Zanders and see what he provides. Still doubt it happens.

It would destroy the kid if he got benched.

No question we're bad this year. But I thought we looked light years ahead of where we were in Baton Rouge. We are a YOUNG team. This season can be blamed in part on that 2013recruiting class. So many guys just didn't work out. We're playing with mainly freshmen through juniors against fifth year seniors. Got to remember, there's no senior leadership among the offensive line, the most important unit on the field. Young teams go through swings like this. Of course, it's only fitting that our young team has a young staff, too. It's all still a process of getting your feet wet.

Then he's weak, which I'm afraid is the case anyway.

Yes, they should start Crockett over Witter. Keep Lock. Zanders isn't the answer. Getting a running game is.

The offense looked unprepared again today.

I agree with you on the running game. I also think Zanders helps that tremendously.

That's probably the main reason I advocate a switch. The other being Lock playing like garbage, and the other being why the hell not?

Part of it is trying to play this tempo shite when the offense can't even execute three plays in a row. Time of possession is killing us. The absolute least Heupel should do is run at normal speed until they can get a 1st down. I appreciate Odom trying to implement what he considers one of the toughest offense to defend, but it ain't working and is killing his defense and the team.

They need to get good at something on offense. Even Vandy is good at running it and will kill us if nothing changes.

There is no one more down than Lock. I still feel he gives Mizzou the best chance to win. That's why I said they need to get a running game going with a tandem of Crockett and Strong. Both are tough big backs. I think that would help Lock a lot.

I'm not totally sold on Zanders.I haven't seen enough to say one way or another. I do know he likes to pull the ball down and run a lot. It worked well against lesser teams, but he had a few bones rearranged against LSU. He took some shots and he won't last long doing that.

we can't throw out the baby with the bathwater as they say. florida has a national top 5 defense. Better than lsu. When we give two pick 6s, we will lose 99% of the time. Zanders came in against floridas 2s and 3s. If he had started today he might have been more effective than Lock because florida's amazing dbacks would have had watch for the zanders run. We will not face another defense like them or lsu the rest of the season.

We can still make a bowl since most people thought this was where they would be at this time of the year.

Crockett is the shite and we will have him for another 3 seasons. They seem to be realizing that. Defense was much better today.

I am not the typical reactionary and I have seen Lock's upside BUT his performance the last two weeks should cost him time. Our coaches are too soft, do you think Saban would not be all over his arse. Sure the play calls sucked but he telegraphed two pick 6's that put the game out of reach. Other throws were not even close even with no pressure. If you allow shite performances like that to go then they will continue. Not saying he needs benched but splitting time would be good. BUT only do it if you will let Zanders actually throw.

What I don't understand are all these sideline passes. Sure, it's one thing to go vertical up the sideline, but that's not the kind of passes I'm seeing. They are very difficult throws to make, even when you have the cannon arm Lock has. You misjudge the window just a little bit and the DB jumps the pass and goes back the other way just like we all saw today.

I don't know if it is playcalling, or Lock fixating on the outside routes, but the middle of the field should be getting a lot more action. Watching Connor Shaw complete eleventy billion consecutive passes to the TE 8 yards downfield back in 2012 demonstrated that. Where's the tunnel screen back to the middle of the field? The slant? the comeback? The drag route between the LBs and safeties?
