killz- I saw your thread on the SEC rant and it reminded me to check back to this thread.

Someone asked if WV was southern earlier (maybe jokingly).. I am from southern WV so i consider myself much more southern than northern. You can take someone from southern WV to Wheeling (in the northern panhandle) and they might think they are from the deep south because of the accent. This actually happened to a friend of mine.

I read some of the posts on the SEC rant so i wanted to give you some tips/info about Morgantown. First of all, it really sucks this game is at noon, because it cuts down on the tailgating time before the game. The Blue Lot right in front of the stadium is the best spot to be before the game IMO. You can find everything you are looking for there. Do try the moonshine. Every Big 12 fan base that has been to Morgantown has had positive reviews.. so I don't expect y'all to have any issues. Parking is free at the Coliseum but there is a $4 fee per person to ride the shuttle to the stadium (it drops off at the top of the blue lot) Other paid parking options are all over town pretty much.

As for nightlife, it depends on what you are looking for. If you're looking for the younger crowd, go to High Street downtown. Lots of bars/clubs there. It is the main student nightlife area. If you are looking for more local things, try Keglers, Crocketts, Varsity Club, Marios Fishbowl, and Schmitts Saloon (owned by former WVU FB Owen Schmitt) Although I have personally never been there, I have heard good things. There are plenty of options and watering holes in town.

I would suggest taking a drive out to Coopers Rock if y'all get the chance. Its about 15 minutes outside of Morgantown but has a great view. Ravens Rock is out there too, its a bit of a walk but also worth it for the view.

Thanks for the info! Some of us are going to this game so the info is greatly appreciated.

As for me...well...I just like to have fun and mess with people. No hard feelings.

However, West Virginia is not southern. No matter how much southern WV identifies as southern, WV will never be viewed as "southern". If WV doesn't have a star on the Confederate Flag (WV doesn't) then WV is not southern.

Hell, Missouri actually is represented by a star on the Confederate flag and southerners still don't view us as "southern". The entire southern half of Missouri, especially the bootheel and SW Missouri, identifies as southern and have southern accents, yet the south still refuses to believe Missouri is southern.

If Missouri isn't southern, WV sure as hell isn't southern.

I've been to WV many times, mostly to whitewater kayak near Beckley (New and Gauley Rivers). WV is VERY similar to SW Missouri's Ozark Mountain region. Y'all are certainly hillbillies like Ozark Mountain baldknobbers...but you ain't southern.

Wish this was a rematch of the 07/08 championship.

Ugly game, but WVU pulls out the win.

Are they still sore that we "stole" their spot in the SEC?

Their Scout.com forum is a cesspool.

How will the weather effect the game? Will Morgantown get any of the rain or wind from the hurricane?
