I'm not sure why people aren't aware of some things but lets clarify to make sure everyone is on the same page:
1) Softball is getting a new stadium. It will be east of Hearnes center.
2) Hearnes Center will be demolished in the near future. Likely within 5 years or so.
3) There were rumblings that Alden cut the baseball renovations because they are in the middle of creating their masterplan for the athletic complex. They might be looking at a new baseball stadium next to the new softball stadium. Obviously these drastic changes require master planning to insure parking and all sports are taken care of.
We'll throw some major money at baseball but it won't be until we can offer full scholarships for an entire team. That isn't likely to happen until this new P5 NCAA division is created and SEC network money is rolling in.

I don't think anything should be done at the expense of football or basketball. But if the extra revenues/monies are there for improvements, then we should do them, whether it's softball, wrestling, volleyball or baseball.
So it sounds to me like the baseball program is in a rut. They won't sink money into it until it is drawing fans. Fans wont come until they win. They won't win until they get recruits. They won't get recruits until they improve the facilities. They won't get facilities until they sink money in it.
As for softball, would it be possible to relocate a new field to the patch of land on the northeast corner of Providence and Champions Drive? I think space wise there's plenty of room. You can tie into the parking to the north. There is a bit of a grade there but is it too much to work with? They may be able to use the grade to their advantage, creating a natural hill in the outfield for student's to hangout/watch.

Since there is still confusion, I'll say it again. Softball's new stadium is going east of Hearnes. It is a done deal.

I have heard some of those things discussed but had not heard that they were finalized. Hearnes is a sure thing in the next 5 years or so? Softball location is a done deal? Are they tearing down that little building and putting it there or parking or where east of Hearnes? Thanks.

Hadn't read yours when I posted that one. And didn't read this one when I posted my immediately prior post. You can ignore. You answered it. It's a done deal. Excited for softball. Any timeline for the new field?

I think we'll get the design of the new stadium released soon. That should show exactly where the stadium will be in that area.
I have no idea when they'll officially announce demolition of Hearnes, just that it is coming in that time frame.

That is good to hear, from my recollection of campus that's an area with some growing room, I'm sure the left side of the sports area is already cramped and they are supposed to be expanding the football practice area from what I recall.
Makes sense to put a new mini complex over to the east a little, just hope they do it right and don't skimp.

And it sounds official that Mizzou is not going to do anything in the short term to bolster the baseball program. No surprise but Alden has elected to retain TJ for 2015.

That's cool. I'm excited to see what they have in store. EE and the ladies definitely earned it.

It will likely be similar to John Cropp Stadium but maybe 500 or so larger capacity.

FYI, it was announced today that Tim Jamieson will be returning as head coach for 2015
