The softball program is a good model for what could happen. 15 years ago they had a crappy feild, crappy team, and no attendance. Look how far they have come

Right, I don't subscribe to the whole SECRant belief that bringing up uncomfortable shite is flaming or trolling. Most do, I think it's weak as shite.

I was just wondering why it was brought up as not a flame.

It's been a good discussion, and since he's allowed here, he's allowed to bring up good threads when he wants.

I'm just wondering if the no flame thing made a difference.

I really haven't seen CNB flame this board. IMHO it's legit.

I don't know, but I'd guess he feared bringing up a topic that could be perceived as negative toward mizzou, on the Mizzou board, might be perceived as confrontational or provocative. So he nipped it in the bud by stating from jump that he didn't mean to flame. Just my opinion.

I did that simply because I know not every Missouri fan is fond of me, and I didn't want it to come across as "Oh my god why is Missouri so god awful at baseball"

I may have not posted in this thread much but I've read every response. Sucks that the renovations didn't turn out to be as good as once thought. Seems like Mizzou is in a viscious cycle. Wins = fans = support to the program.

Guess it will be some time before Missouri is relevant in baseball. It's a shame.

ETA: It's a classic "I can't tell you much of anything, but you can tell me everything" scenario. I have barely anything I can contribute to this conversation.

I can get that, I just wonder why he didn't step back in and contribute to the thread.

Bringing up the shite, saying it's no flame and then letting it marinate until he comes back to see the results kind of sucks.

CNB is cool, and this is no flame, but I just wonder why he went that route unless it was expected to go another route.

However, this isn't about CNB, I'm just wondering how the mob would have acted if he hadn't disclaimed up front.

I appreciate the discussion, but the whole starting a thread, saying "no flame," then never showing up in the thread makes me feel like I've been played like a whore.

Yeah, kinda was wondering the same thing. Very subtle if so but I really don't care though. Have enjoyed reading everyone's thoughts. I love baseball at all ages, even college. Hell, I go watch youth games just because I don't have a life. Really wish the interest grew in Mizzou baseball. Not to LSU or OM or Arky levels. But get more people than we get for the high school game of the week. I bet there's more people up at the ballpark as I type watching a district game than Mizzou gets.

Maybe instead of spending more money on the facilities, they should spend it on promoting the team. Get them on radio. Get a set up like Auburn where you can watch/listen for free. Generate the interest. Worry about charging for it down the road after you created the demand.

It might have went the other way which is probably why he brought it up. On the rant it would have been a troll fest for sure

Following up on that thought, I can listen to Gateway Grizzlies games on the radio. And that's in STL with the Cards. I've listened to River City Rascal games in the past. Again, in the same city as the Cards. I'd much rather get the Mizzou games. Just don't get it.

I don't get the desire to charge.

Say you bring in 1000 fans at $5 a head. Sure it helps, but it's a drop in the bucket.

This is a university varsity sport, get people involved and the money to run the team is being spent regardless of the ticket sales.

Get people in the doors or watching, get the interest up, do the party deck thing and get the freebies enjoying watching their school's team lose because they're loaded up on Natty Ice.

Just get people involved. The facilities bring in the talent, but if the interest is the main concern, get people there. Again, you either do it from winning or from the fan experience.

I'm sure people would love to get get some beers in a cooler and hang out at the game if there's nothing else going down, a non revenue sport doesn't have to capitalize on every opportunity for revenue.

Maybe advertising the program is the best place to start then? You would have to start small and build up, but it would be a start at least.

Maybe even a bring your own food day or something. Something that won't cost the University any money (other than lost revenue in concessions) and will generate interest. I have no idea, just spitballing.

In and out of sleep. I can't turn my head to the left or upwards for some reason.

Advertising a restaurant that serves cow shite on a plate will get you a lot of one time customers. It's not about advertising. That's one of the big mistakes in business, if you get a bunch of first timers in for a shite experience, you wind up spending a lot of money for no result.

It's about booze, student experience, fan experience, and winning.

That's all there is to it.

Hopefully the student experience will improve, developing them into fans while still creating new student fans.

Good times, good memories, great experiences.

Getting fricked up procrastinating on stuff I need to do while I pretend to be keeping an eye on my contractor.

This place really makes me a lot less productive.

Not at all. Just a sharp pain in the back left of my neck whenever I turn to the left or upwards. Must have pinched a nerve or hurt it at work. Who knows. If it persists through tomorrow I will seek help.

Kind of freaked me out when I woke up at 4 am and felt like I couldn't move at all though.
