I've been called many names on Powermizzou, but you guys seem far more rational than Gabe or his minions, V-P, Dreamlaw, and a few others. Here's my data why Frank Haith should still be roaming the sideline at Mizzou Arena.

Over the 19 years before Haith got to Miami they averaged 15.5 wins.

Over the 2 years before he got to Maimi they averaged 12.5 wins.

Over Frank Haith's last 4 years they averaged 20.7 wins.

In a four period a few years before he got there they averaged 21.5

So his last 4 years didn't match the very best four years in their school history, but it came somewhat close, and it was well above how they were doing immediately before he got there, and also quite a bit better than their all-time average.

Had he stuck around it's likely that he would have won quite a few games (if he didn't get fired for NCAA violations) because the roster he had built was quite good and would go on to win a ton of games without him. He actually left right as things were getting good and his rebuild was paying off.

We screwed up by not paying him whatever he needed to stay. Now everyone is starting to come around to what I said the day Anderson was hired. Nice guy, but we'll regret letting Haith walk.

Do me a favor Andy, I don't wanna get in the middle of a bunch of drama or name calling. You stated your opinion early on about posters on a different message board. Let's not keep dragging out that baggage. Hell, some of them may already or may want to post here and I don't want to dissuade that. That's really just directed to your very first sentence. No problem with the entirety of the rest of your post.

As to the rest of it, I wasn't a Haith fan either. Regardless of my feelings on KA, I didn't like Haith as a coach and frankly, don't trust him as a person. Something just doesn't sit right with me when it comes to that guy.

Frank Haith sucks. I'm not even reading that as I'm sure you have a bunch of meaningless/slanted statistics to back up your opinion, but watching a Frank Haith team will make you want to claw your eyes. No defense, and no plan on offense. Lots of tossing it around the perimeter for 30 secs and jacking up a 3 or driving wildly into the lane hoping to be bailed out. The program was eroding, not improving.

Obvious caveat would be his first team, but not a single one of those guys were his players. It was a senior laden team with a chip on their shoulder. All the great they did, still marred by an all timer of a loss in the tourney.

So no, Kim could lose every game he coaches here and never once would I pine for Frank Haith.

Haith was a great offensive coach, but I doubt we regret not paying him. Yes he would win about 20 games a year for us, but up to this point in his coaching career he hasn't done anything in the NCAA tourney. Lost every game.
Anderson may prove successful maybe not. Have to see what type of growth we have from season to season before making a judgement.
If anything the regret will be not paying a Marshall type to come in and rescue the BBall program.

You admitted you put on an act or persona there on the PM forums and yet you are surprised that you encountered vitriolic responses? Am I missing something here Andy? I read your posts there and its pretty clear you trolled and gave as much as you took in the end.

Leave your baggage on Power Mizzou.

I guess this would be great data to support why hiring Haith would be a good call for Mike Alden in 2011.

He had a few years here, they weren't great. Two first round NCAA eliminations and an NIT appearance happened at Mizzou since the things you mentioned in your post. He had just as much to do with leaving as Mizzou did, he likely saw what was coming and got out of Dodge.

I'm not sure what they were saying over there, but if they're commenting on how posts like these seem like they came out of a time machine from four years ago, I think I'd agree with them.

It's about to get a whole lot more interesting I think.

I did troll them, but only because those mentioned started to belittle anyone who was new and posted. It started around realignment. So I decided I would give them something to feed off of. But, like I said it became exhausting because everyone turned on me and It became difficult to keep stories straight. On a positive note, I posted a thread on the Mainboard that reached 3 pages and many posters wanted me to come back. I guess they miss me some.

I will admit that I can be opinionated and a little stubborn when it comes to Haith. I like when Mizzou basketball is good.

Yep we know. No need to continue it.

As for Haith, you do realize that we progressively got worse each year under him, right?

Haith has zero NCAA tourney wins. Don't think that is a mark of an irreplaceable coach.

I remember thinking "Who does this idiot think he is demanding a raise after missing out on the NCAA tourney? He's acting like he just had a spectacular season." Dude was a fool and thought that just because GP got a raise, he should too.

Reedus23, I won't continue that.

On Haith's record getting worse, I think everyone can admit he inherited a terrible situation left by Mike Anderson. He took a team that had almost no bigs and we witnessed one of the best seasons in our history. The players talked about watching film and game prep for the first time.

Kim English, one of the most beloved players ever, loves Haith. Everywhere he's been, he's improved the teams. The Miami fiasco kept many of the blue chips from coming. He was found to be innocent and recruiting was just starting to pick up. If we would have stuck with him, we would have a great class coming in. Now Tulsa gets to enjoy their 10 game winning streak in better conference.

English definitely does love the guy. Seems to me MA checked out long before he left. I've almost stopped following Kimmy because I'm tired of seeing the Tulsa updates.

Differing opinions are welcomed and encouraged. Trolling on this board is not. Of you want to engage in that, keep it on tRant.

I didn't hate Haith, and I know Kim English has high regard for the man and with good reason. But I'm not sorry he's gone - just that his replacement is struggling g and I really didn't like that hire much.

Haith had really 1 problem as a coach. That's roster building. He was able to recruit really good players, but he didn't have a system. That ment that his rosters didn't really fit together very well.

I thought Haith was at his best when Ernie Nestor was on the sideline coaching Xs and Os. Haith started to struggle when he left. Yes, he was a good recruiter, but not a good disciplinarian, nor could he seem to get the team to play together.

No matter who coaches Mizzou, I support them and want them to do well. I'm just afraid this last hire may not have been the best choice.
