This squad could use Johnny Mac right about now. I wonder if he has any eligibility left.

When they built the arena they priced out the loyal locals who had season tickets for decades, and a lot of folks won't go back.

They priced out the Mizzou employees, too, when they increased donation requirements in the mid 90s. Dad had a pair of tickets until then.

Daughter just got home and asked her why her and her friends don't go to the games. Her answer "It's like a $100 night to go to the game."

That's a lot of coin for a kid. Between the tickets, the drinking that college students are going to do. Any food. Whatever. Their limited funds simply get them further without going to the games. Interestingly, she said nothing about how bad the team is. Impression is she would go outside of the cost factor.

Games are only $5/game. They can't make it much cheaper.

Season tickets for students to both football and basketball are next $400 total.

The season tickets also include all the Olympic sports. It's cheaper than other SEC schools.

You haven't seen nothing yet. Check out New Mexico'state bowl game this Saturday. The bowl gamemail where they have home field advantage because it's played on their field. I bet it will be under half full. This is a team that came off of back to back 4 win seasons to have a 7 win and 8 win season. That's huge for them yet now one shows up to the games. Tickets are below $20 too. It's sad.

Yeah, we did this last year and the only games she went to were baseball games believe it or not. She'd sell football tickets for money.

I just told her. She had no idea. I'm sure she wasn't paying much attention. But then again, maybe someone needs to find a way to make sure even those not paying attention are made aware.

From one angle -- Mizzou doesn't get as much following from regular citizens as other flagship state universities.

Sure, yes, of course there are plenty of people who didn't go to Mizzou who are fans.

But it seems that going to Mizzou is usually a prerequisite to being a fan, especially beyond the casual level, and especially in StL and KC.

Other states it's slightly more about just being from the state.

I'm sure there's many reasons for this, but the fact that Mizzou is known as Mizzou and not Missouri might be one reason people psychology detach themselves from the state-tribe mentality.

I have long thought the Mizzou title instead of Missouri was catchy but distinguished the University too much from the state. I don't think it's a major factor but I think it does play in a small amount to dissecting those that have and have not attended.

Also if your daughter is spending $90 on food and beer at a basketball game she is morbidly obese and probably an alcoholic.
