I like Ammaker, steady coach and his recruiting roots are in the country's best location.

The next tier down from what? There aren't any upper tier coaches taking the job.

You never know. TCU got Dixon, Virginia Tech got Buzz.
Sterk may be willing to listen to past Mizzou players and coaches to get a good and proven coach.

It would be hard to lure any coach with the mess our program is in.

Money for some coaches would be the answer, but with Drew we need to offer something else. Don't know if we have the juice, but he is the type of coach we need.

We need a good recruiter, a decent coach, and a good person to be our next coach.

If we can go a full season without off-court incidents. Be in good standing with the NCAA. And show that there is a core of well-intentioned, hard working kids in the program then I disagree that this is a mess and an undesirable spot for a good coach.

With the facilities, nearby talent pools, and history of a solid fanbase then as long as there isn't dirty laundry in the washing machine a highish-end quality coach will take this job if given the right dollars.

When Haith left and KA was hired there were some really good coaches that had interest in the job. Mizzou didn't contact many of them.
2 examples of guys interested
Ben Howland, which I kind of get with Mizzou being investigated.
Chris Mack.

If Mizzou is committed to winning in hoops, it will be able to get a good proven high major level coach.

If not then you roll the dice with a young mid major coach.

Archie Miller from Dayton could also be a coach for Mizzou to check out. I don't think he has the national recruiting experience, but we would be able to give him a significant pay raise. We also have much better facilities and a better conference.

I would still prefer Scott Drew.

Underperformed? His teams got better each year at Tennessee, look what has happened at Tennessee after he left.

Yup. Underperformed. If he hadn't left, he was probably going to get fired the next year.

Tennessee fans just wanted Pearl. Nothing Martin could do was going to change that.
Made the sweet 16 his last year.

I know. From the play-in game. That was his pattern. Start slow, sneak into postseason. And while that would be a step up from Kim, is that all we want?

Word from a couple big boosters: Doug Karleskint is being seriously considered for HC. Right now, he's taking some on-line courses at Mizzou so he can be a trueson. If he passes those, he's in for 3 years at $250,000 per.

Now struggling to Miami Ohio. At least no one has to endure the torture of having to watch on TV.

2 for 13 from 3.

Somehow in 3 years he hasn't been able to teach a team how to play half court offense. Or develop a shooter.

I keep trying to tell myself "only 20 more games of this mess". Then I remind myself his replacement might not be any better.

No need to.
We'll fire him at the end of the season.

We just beat Miami, OH. 302 in the KenPom.

Shooting doesn't have much to do with coaching. Practice, form and in game experience. You don't change a players shot by the time they are playing D 1 basketball. Cullen is a shooter and will continue to shoot as shooters should. So will Hughes, at least Cullen takes good shots. I think sometimes he passes on shots that he should be taking. Confidence will come with more success and seeing the ball go in.

Yes and no. If your team is shooting in the low 30s game in and game out, you suck as a coach. You either aren't a) getting your guys to exert effort, b) run the offense, or c) you recruited shitty players.

C possibly I'd agree with. It's early and they shot terribly in a couple games. Nothing to do with effort. Young teams struggle to shoot well. It's not rocket science. Van Leer is a good shooter and has good form. So does Hughes. On a roster with upperclassmen Hughes isn't forced into being an immediate scorer. You watch the games... The looks Van Leer was getting had nothing to do with lack of effort or running the offense. The kid missed open shots that he is very capable of hitting. I'm sure he'd be the first to tell you.

Hughes has problems with shot selection and isn't always consistent with his mechanics.
No one would complain about CVL if he shoots the way he did today. Problem is he doesn't do it consistently.
