Frank Cusumano said on his radio show today the Tilmon family isn't financially able to travel far from home to watch him play, so that increases the odds of Mizzou (and possibly SLU) landing him.

Perhaps they already do, but I think to avoid impermissable benefits issues a game day shuttle bus service should be provided on "the regular" to both KC & Stl. If not free at a minimal charge for any game day fan(s).

This would be great for all fans who for whatever reason coming to COMO may be some form of hardship. If there already is such a service I would assume the coaches advise parents of the availability of this convenience.

That's the real news. If we were are going to get Tilmon, we should have already gotten Tilmon

Why?

I'm overstating this. If Tilmon was a done deal he would have already committed. Has he even scheduled a visit here? He's looking at bluebloods, he's looking close to home at SLU. Maybe we still get him, maybe we are in the lead, but it's completely up in the air.

We are not in the lead on Smith.

Knox could go to any of his final five. I think we have as good a shot as anyone so let's call it 20%.

We could easily whiff on all three. Given how this was laid out for Gonzo, hiring MPj's dad, Mpj recruiting like crazy, Tilmon being from his old school where his sister still works; if he whiffs on all three it's not a good result for him. It's a good class, but it was completely set up to be better. Without the Porters it would be next to nothing.

Didn't Martin just get to Mizzou? Has he had 2-3 years to recruit a player for Mizzou like other coaches have for their prospective schools?

Not my point. Given how it fell into his hands if we only wind up with these three it's not a great result for that situation.

This is ridiculous. Even without MPJ, you have two top 100ish players. That's not an elite class. But it's not bad.

I agree that if we don't land at least Tilmon, it will be very disappointing. But that's not the end of the world.

Without Mpj you don't have Harris. We have one recruit, who is top 100, and is also an Anderson recruit.

and my point still is not that this is bad, it's that it was was set up for CM to do better.

and that can still happen. If Tilmon falls that could even get Smith's attention (although I doubt it). I think we have a shot at knox. So it could still be a top five class too.

and we will still get Jontay at some point (wouldn't that be a tru kick in the nuts if we didn't). So we are trending way up no matter what. I would just like to see martin kick this for all the long term gain he can

I believe that the class we have now (with #1 player MPj) is very good. I think COU's point is that but for CM getting the Porter clan through a fortunate chain of events our current class would very well only contain Roberts and that it would be disappointing if we are not able to truly maximize this rare opportunity to potentially set up the program for a long time by truly putting us back on the map by getting that fab 5 type class.

OH WELL seems my reply is redundant as COU must have posted his own explanation as I was composing mine. But feels righteous to have posted the same type reply as came out in his

Lot of nonsense here. How does a coach just come into a job where the team has been down lower than they have ever been in the history of the program and you think that Martin was put in a position to pull in a top five class. We are in the discussion with players that we would have never been in decades even if Porter is a big reason why. I'll reserve the right to judge his recruiting in 2018 and 2019 when he has a chance to put his stamp on the team.

Without MPJ, we don't have a shot at Tilmon, Knox or Harris or Smith. So I stopped there.

LOL...so Zo is basically fricked here.

He wraps up a top 5 class and he only did it because is MPJ.

Miss a couple guys at the end and he's a failure.

No chance for credit, only blame.

The guy is a very good recruiter. He proved it before he even got here. He has a bunch of other highly rated guys coming in for visits in the next class. Are those guys solely because of MPJ too? I mean frick

ETA: We won't end the class here even if we don't get any or our remaining top targets. He's got a grad transfer guard coming for a visit. One that can really shoot. If we need to go that route for a big we can do that too. We will fill the last two slots.

Really Jinxus?? Two other posters said basically the same thing but were harsher than I. Yet you choose to come after me. In fact I never said he was a bad recruiter or anything close. I even stated the class is already Very Good as well as saying it is the best class since and comparable to the Stipo/Sundvold class (you may be too young to remember the actually timeframe). So needless to say ,(I would have thought), It was a kudos compliment.

So I have to ask why you are so extremely sensitive to all of my posts. Just because I disagree with you over BO is no reason for you to get red-assed over each and every one of my posts.

The fact that you are so obviously fixated on me would make for a good sociological/psychological case study to find out your motivations and reasons why you have this obsession. Until we can ascertain the underlying cause(s) let's address the symptoms. Take a chill pill or two and simply hit your reset/reboot button.

Whatever J, you chose to reply to my post and one can just read through this 1 very thread to see that you apparently only selectively read and only seek out a distorted reason to reply negatively totally ignoring the total gist of my post. You see what you want to see and I will double down on the interesting case study to find out the true underlying reason why you respond in such a "butt hurt" manner.

We land the #1 player in the country who would go Number 1 in the NBA draft for 2017 and 4 yrs after this and Mizzou fans are still unsure of all of this. Tilmon is coming to Mizzou. He hasn't committed bc he doesn't want the NCAA investigating. On the 5% chance he does go somewhere else, Jontay is waiting in the wings. As far as Knox is concerned it's 50-50 between us and Duke and we have the best recruiter on it. MPJ can be in his ear daily. Which he is.

Those odds went up for MU the minute the Tripping Assassin announced he was returning to Duke next season. I think everyone has to agree on that, no matter how pessimistic you are about our chances with Knox. Still not a sure thing by any means, but I think our chances are as good as anyone's.

Side discussion - Could this Canisius guard be too many players if he comes? I'm sure all these recruits we are so excited about see themselves as the real deal and are not going to be willing to share minutes with more than 1 or 2 other players.

Robertson essentially replaces CVL. A shooter who can actually shoot would be welcome.
