Thanks JQ for highlighting my primary point in my post above.:)

Now whether the lane violation was trumped up or if was akin to a swerve which given the time of the morning fits a DUI "profile", once pulled over and alcohol found the PO really did not have much of a choice given the factors I highlighted in my post.

Let's see...he's been here all of 2 weeks and already in trouble with the law. That doesn't bode well for him or us!
My Pappy always told me, if you stay away from trouble, and don't do stupid things, the likely hood of getting into trouble drops dramatically. Just a thought.

Pretty sure my first few weeks on a college campus involved a few beers. He didn't get a DUI and the MIP law in CoMo is specifically designed to target students. Amazing that I never got arrested in CoMo, definitely was close a few times.

If you or I get a possession ticket, it doesn't hit the papers. Athletes are held to a higher level, and they should be in my opinion. So players need to go above and beyond to keep their nose clean, and out of trouble. I was one of those athletes 40 plus years ago. I know!

I don't disagree with that. I also KNOW that despite being an athlete, it didn't keep me away from alcohol while underage. I just never got busted. Bottom line is it's not the end of the world but it is just troubling that a player cannot follow rules that are set down, whether it's no alcohol or bed check on a game night.

I can agree with that. Common sense seems to be missing these days with youngsters. I feared my .Dad and coach more than the law. I knew facing the music with those 2 would be a whole lot worse than jail. ;-)

No one asked them to ignore a MIP. Lane violations are usually bull shite. Don't try to sell something else.

I'm not trying to "sell something else." I think you need to read the phrase "lane violation" as swerving in/out of his lane which is exactly what police would be looking for at 2 am by drivers who have been drinking. Nothing bull shite about it. Middle of the day with lots of other traffic around, Probably a different story. Likely just some moron on their phone. Middle of the night, probably someone on their way home from a bar or party who's been drinking.

This is still just a minor thing in my book that requires a talk and a slap on the wrist from coach. It's unfortunate it gets the press it does. Luckily he wasn't above the DUI limit. That would be much more serious.

Very well could have been that. I have just seen way too many instances where "lane violation" was a pretext. The fact that he passed his field sobriety tests tells me it was more likely pretextual but you may be right.
