Nope, last time he wasn't drafted in the first round was 06 though and think he went as a second rounder.

I blame ESPN. They manufacture "news" so all their talking heads have something to talk about. I was tired of it Saturday night.

Absolutely, but it's nothing new that ESPN does this shite all the time. Stupid that people can't differentiate between, screw ESPN and screw Michael Sam.

Eh...it is what it is. I don't like watching fat girls kissing anything. If ESPN showed excessive fat girl kissing, I'd be somewhat disgusted too.

People on both sides getting way too worked up over this. ESPN over did it. Everyone move on. Sam is a person and a player, not a sexuality.

It might be a good idea to tone down the multiple threads. Just a suggestion. I don't want to need another reinstatement thread for you.

frick all that. If Michael Sam had played for any other SEC team I'd be talking shite too. It's the rant.

I'm glad he's from Mizzou, and I support the cause (although not the way it was sold the the media/public) and I'm happy he's a tiger.

That being said, I'd probably be making plenty of gay jokes if the dude came out of USC, Georgia, or any other SEC school.

It is what it is, him being gay doesn't change me and my tolerance.

As tolerant as many of us are, the bait hanging there to be taken from the fact that the first gay dude drafted would have come from any other school is too tasty to not be bitten. It is what it is.

Really, our biggest headache in this conference has been a team named the cocks. We don't play that up nearly enough, but if they had a gay dude, oh it would be go time.

Silly logic is silly

I don't hate gays.

Just Fins.

No really, frick the Finnish.

If I had to watch some Finnish frick kiss another damn Finlander on TV, I'd throw a brick through my television screen and boycott whatever channel it was for life.

Somebody tries to serve me fried Baltic herring? I take it and throw it on the GROUND.

I'm not a part of the Finnish system!

MAAAAAAAAAN.

but people's reaction, specifically on the internet where anonymity reigns supreme, is getting old

2 things:

-It's been 3 days since the draft ended. As with all things, this will blow over shortly. It's only a big deal now because people haven't moved on to the next thing to get outraged over yet.

-I liken this situation a lot to Tim Tebow. I don't think anyone actually hates tim tebow, but the media attention he got for 5-6 years was insufferable. He was constantly forced down our throats at every turn that people got fed up with it. Now, I realize this is a little different because MS's lifestyle is disagreeable to some, but my point is with the exposure it's getting. I guarantee you if this was the 90s where the internet was barely a thing most people wouldn't care. But this story is on every media outlet 24/7 to the point that people are just like "omggggg ok we get it already, stfu"

A few weeks from now when the media has stopped talking about it, I doubt people on message boards are still going to be bringing it up on the reg.

Frankly WG, I'm not sure which is driving which. Is the media driving all of the talk. Or is the media just continuously reporting on it because that's all that people are talking about? I guess a bit of both.

Look, I'm an open minded person. But they used to call it the Grand Duchy of Finland for a REASON. Oh they were duchy, alright. Duchy little Fennomans and Svecomans, those fricks. If the NFL drafted Axel Olof Freudenthal I would not want my son to ever play football.

Yeah right. Like your kid will never be exposed to Fins in his life, like he will never hear about Fins, like some of his friends aren't Fins right now.

To be a Fin is to sin. I wish we could finish the Finnish once and for all. But in the meantime, they can keep their tango dancing, pesäpallo playing filth the hell off my lawn.

Valid point. And I mean let's be honest, it was a pretty "out there" display. Also if was on some daytime soap opera not a soul would care, but this was in a sports setting on ESPN where you typically aren't (and honestly, most of the people don't want to be) exposed to that behavior.

But I still stick by the stance that in 2 weeks nobody will be talking about it anymore. The Donald Sterling thing was all American sports media wanted to talk about for 2 weeks, now it's this. Something else will come along and people will move on.

Unfortunately, as with the tebow love affair, we're going to hear about it again as soon as training camp starts. Then when preseason games start. Then roster cuts. Then his first PT.

I'm sure the talk will die down in time. I can tell you I don't think I've heard much about it on the radio here in STL today. Yet, tRant is thread after thread.
