Lynn is a mindfrick out there at times.

I think they sat him down and made him realize that there's no control over what happens behind him. He's started to bear down, and I hope it continues well into October.

You think he's feeling the pressure of all these young arms coming up behind him? Could be what's going on with other 8 on the field with him but I also kind of felt like he was pressing more than usual when things didn't go his way.

You could see it on his face during the Wacha near no-no. He's expendable, would like to see him moved this offseason.

Meh. He's always been a mindfrick.

He really letseverything around him eat him alive at times. I've never given much thought to the idea that he's worried about the up and comers. If that's the case, he's got nothing to worry about now.

He's starting game 2. Ain't nobody tapping him on the shoulder at this point.

Besides, he isn't the only starter that worries me going forward. We are young. Very young. They either shine or learn from failure this October. We'll see.

I'm going to go with the "They're too young to know any better." train of thought and hope they don't feel any pressure because they just don't know any better. I think Matheny has done about as good of a job of saving their arms as he could. Hopefully they have another month or so left in them.

Possibly but remember he is only 26 and made his debut in June of 2011. It's not like he is a seasoned vet even though he is more grizzled than the others not named Waino. He was 15-10 this year with just under a 4 era. He has won more games in the last 2 years than any other Cardinal pitcher and you can't deny that when he is on he is damn good. I just hope Matheny's gut feeling is right in this one. Not the choice I would have made.

Yepp, don't mean to sound like I'm knocking Lynn too bad. He's still solid. Just don't think I'd use him in game 2. You're right, when Lynn is good, he is damn good. I also think when Wacha is good, he's better. I suppose no real wrong choice if you're Matheny. Quick hook with any/all of them.

I think it's obvious why MM is throwing LL at home after seeing that Pitt crowd in action last night.

Hurdle was in the locker room after the game asking them to do more in the next round. LL isn't equipped to handle that crowd IMO.

Now Kelly, on the other hand, he'll soak that shite up like a sponge. Dudes a bulldog.

Kind of made some assumptions on the rotations here, but was taking a look at the match ups with their splits whether home or away in ( ).

Burnett 3.30(4.22) @STL Wainwright 2.94(2.53) Cards edge
Morton 3.26(3.61) @STL Lynn 3.97(2.82) Push
Cole 3.22(3.75) @PIT Kelly 2.69(2.07) Cards edge
Liriano 3.02(1.47 @PIT Miller 3.06(4.57) Pitt edge
Burnett 3.30(4.22) @STL Wainwright 2.94(2.53) Cards edge

So my take on it based on these numbers is the Cards have an edge in 3 and Pitt has an edge in 1 with 1 push(Morton better overall but Lynn better with splits) but we just gave away an edge by not starting Miller in game 2. By starting him in game 2, the Cards now have the edge in 4 and Pitt the edge in 1 game(Liriano either way). Just don't like giving up those edges.

Yeah he has.

But reedus asked if he's worried about the young arms behind him, which is a different, you could see the worry on his face during Wacha's last start.. You could tell he feared not getting a rotation spot for the playoffs.

I think we all but guaranteed it by giving away an edge in Game 2. If Miller was going game 2, I could see us taking the first 2 and possibly even sweeping. As I see it now, we split at home (and with my history that means Waino loses and Lynn wins ) and we split in Pitt with Kelly winning and Miller now going from a game 2 win to a game 4 loss and then Waino winning it all in game 5.

Have you seen Millers stats vs the Rats this year? You should look them up, immediately.

As it is right now Miller may not even get a start in this series. They hammer the fastball, Wacha has the money change up. He has held them scoreless for 9 innings I believe, while Miller has gotten hammered.

Mujica on the roster.. would rather give that spot to Chambers to pinch run bc Mujica had better not make one pitch in this series.

Miller: Has given up 2, 3, 3 and 5 runs.
Lynn: Has given up 4, 1, 1, 4 and 7 runs.

Guess I feel somewhat better about the decision. Still think I would have gone with Miller in game 2 but there's a reason I don't get paid to manage.

Wacha threw 2 inning giving up 0 hits and 0 runs and then threw 7 innings giving up 2 hits and 0 runs. Personal preference was him in game 4.

Regardless, it's time to get this shite on.

I guess Chambers is on the roster, even with Mujica.

I suppose it came down to giving that spot to Freeman or Mujica.. oh well, hope it's a non issue and Mujica isn't used at a crucial time.. and by crucial I mean at least a 5 run lead.

Go Cards!

I wouldn't argue much with Miller in 2 and Wacha in 4. I was hoping Lynn would be in the penn. Deep down I wish Lynn had never left the penn... but he did become an all star as a starter... my head hurts thinking about it all.

Well, that was easy.

Let's hope go LL shows up tomorrow, and not mindfrick LL.

Go Cards.
