I think you just have to approach it like you would any other recruit and let things play out. A LOT can change in his baseball development over a couple of years.

As I was typing that, the last sentence kept popping in my head. I agree. Treat it just like any other player and let the chips fall where they may.

Am getting geeked up for the season though.

Zanders still needs to move to WR. I don't disagree with your premise though. Can't play scared of injury. But, tbh, when MM did the best with his legs was rarely on designed runs. They just have to let him know that when he's improvising, it's ok to run. Just know how and when to get down/step out of bounds.

I was thinking more of the read option.

Teams really started crashing in to take the RB, had a lot of open space for Mauk. Could be that he was making the wrong read, but it looked more like he was told to just hand it off.

If I remember correctly, Mauk did say he was playing with a bum shoulder or something for most of the year. That might have been a factor as well.

Maybe a bowl game? Just wishful thinking...

Pinkel says RB Morgan Steward is as healthy as he's been since hurting his hip last year.

Glory, glory hallelujah!!! This is big in my book. Goooooooooood news.

That can be such a huge help if he can play and be productive. I just hope that wasn't "coach speak".

Mauk seems more mature in his answers. Hopefully his game has matured as well.

*Pinkel admitted tailback depth is a bit of a concern. There are a handful of question marks at the position. To start with is the health of Morgan Steward, who was injured in fall camp last year and has not been able to participate fully since that time.

"Morgan is doing better than he's ever done for the past year," Pinkel said. "Hopefully he can start getting reps when we first start practices and we're excited about what he can do and see where he's going."

Redshirt freshman Trevon Walters tore his ACL just prior to spring football. However, Pinkel said the team expects to have him back in September, or at the latest in October. Combined with Abbington's not yet finalized sitiuation, the position has a number of open-ended questions.

@DavidCMorrison: Raymond Wingo still listed as a wideout, 3rd-string at the X. So he's moved from the slot.

Don't get this one at all

So who does everyone think will become the go-to receiver this year?

Hard to tell. Seems the conventional answer would be Moore or Brown. I think what will be interesting will be to see which freshmen play.

Moore is the WR that Mauk singled out about his work this summer.

Reese is the TE that he talked about making big progress.

Reese has the look and body type of a potentially dominant, pass catching tight end.

The other player I'm wondering about having a significant role is Leftwich.

Otherwise, why move Wingo out of the slot?

Absolutely hate losing HB and really looking forward to seeing who steps up this season.

But I also can't help but think ahead. Our DL the following season is going to be absolutely sick with HB and TBJ with a years experience. Harris in what I believe will be his coming out season. Guys like Augusta and Hatley still coming back. And that doesn't touch the other guys developing like Brady, Williams, Jacobs, etc...
