Even though it was a run rule game, it seems that MSU's pitcher, Silkwood, threw enough for 2 games.

Go Mizzou

Softball lost to Auburn 5-2. Wait and see time now to see where they end up.

Brackets for the NCAA tourney. Tigers get the 10th seed, meaning they host a regional. In their region:

1. Mizzou
4. Indiana State

2. kansas
3. Louisville

To this very amateur eye, I love their chances, though I loved their chances last year until our #1 pitcher went down just before the tournament, screwing up her thumb in practice. If healthy, really like our chances.

Indiana State is 22-29 and got the auto bid. They're #170 in the RPI. Louisville (30-16) is #41 in the RPI. Mizzou is #9 btw. kansas (35-13/#24) may just be the worst #2 seed in the tourney.

The other thing I like is that we are paired up with the regional being hosted by #7 UCLA. First, I think we can beat UCLA if both win their regions. Second, there's a chance that UCLA doesn't win their region and if that's the case and Mizzou does, we'd host the super regional. The other teams in UCLA's region - tejas(35-14/#28), San Diego State(35-18/#39) and Cal State Northbridge(40-13/#47).

Article on Mizzou's first opponent. Indiana State. Apparently a really annoying team, making siren sounds during the game. Reading between the lines though, I would like to think we can short them and save some pitching. They're 1 of only 2 teams with a losing record in the tourney.

Mizzou moved up to No. 12 in the latest NFCA/USA Today poll. It's now been 2,527 days since the last time the Tigers were unranked.

Earleywine felt sure there wasn't going to be a repeat of that against Kansas.

"They weren’t going to beat us twice," he said.

Why?

“We’re better," Earleywine said.

I love Earleywine. Can we get a baseball version of him?

The ladies have there work cut out for them at UCLA. They have to get to there ace, not much behind her. If they are going to play like they played in the sixth against ku they might as well stay home.

The biggest key to me is the fielding. More than the pitching, which will be fine assuming all are healthy. Lowary gutted it out to finish off kU despite running 102 temp the day before. Baxter was solid spelling Finucane. And I expect Finucane to bring her A game. Hitting rarely seems to be a problem. What got them in trouble against kU in the 6th, if I remember correctly was fielding.

Also, it was errors that cost us against UCLA the first go around. They put up 4 in one of the middle innings but we should have been out of the inning with a goose egg but for the errors.

Hope he starts Lowary fri. For some reason Finucane just gets tired quickly. I really thought she would have been able to pitch more of game 2. I don't know maybe just a bad outing or the injuyry. I do like our chances though. Great opportunity to do some recruiting.

Well, that trip to Cali wasn't worth the air fare. That was ugly.

Finucane on getting hit in face with line drive.

Mizzou adds 2 time all Sun Belt player Chloe Rathburn. Pretty good bat. Eligible immediately. 2 years left. Probably will play first or DP (Designated Player for you sick freaks).

Q&A with EE

Q: Did you really enjoy coaching this team? It seemed like you kind of connected with this team. Is that fair to say?

Earleywine: “Yeah, I did. I’d say probably the main reason was there was about the least amount drama that we’ve ever had on a team. It’s inevitable that you’re going to have it, because it’s just the nature of females.
