I would be surprised if KA is here for year 4 if there is not significant improvement, significant being +15 wins by year 3. KA is not going to be difficult for a new AD to jettison.

With a salary at a little over a $1,000,000 a yr KA could be shown the door relatively cheap when compared to the salaries of other D1 coaches.

If he's not in at least the NIT by year 3 he should go.

I'm willing to give him a pass for this wasted year, but I can't say I'm very confident moving forward. The team really isn't getting any better, and with Clark gone we aren't going to win another game/

The atmosphere at the Arkansas and first half of the Kentucky game reminded me of the glory days. We were extremely competitive in the Arkansas game. Hell, we would have won if Clark could have knocked the final two freethrows down. The first half of the Kentucky game impressed the hell out of me as well. Just as Kentucky appeared to have the momenutm to run away with the game, Mizzou would battle back. I am optimistic about KA. If we show no significant signs of improvement by year 3, THAT is when we need to start worrying.

I think this team is in the mix for the NIT next year. Year 3 I'd like to be sniffing the tourney for sure. Both are very attainable. Sometimes you need to lose to realize how much it sucks.

If KA's tenure comes to an end. Mizzou need to go full press for Gegg Marshall.

Marshall's prized class is his juniors. Ron Baker and Fred Van Fleet namely. When they leave will be the time to go after him. Which at the latest will be in 2 years.

Yep, I would still want two of the cast of characters from the last search.

Marshall and Howland. Either one would work for me. I do hope Kim succeeds though.

Frankly, I think the Marshall thing has come and gone. I could be wrong, but besides his junior class, I think they're playing like 5 or 6 freshmen more than 10 minutes a game. Oh and they're 22-3 with those 5-6 freshmen playing so much. I know. I know. They also have 3 or 4 juniors and seniors contributing as well.

If this year is any indication he will be lucky to get a total of three years. The won/loss record is concerning but the fact we are getting blown out by nobodies and look bad doing it is very concerning. Also all the suspensions and off the court issues are going to make the next AD pull the trigger sooner than later. He needs to get us to at least .500 next season and NIT in year three and right now I see neither happening.

Well the question you guys have to answer, and next season will probably be when you get enough information to make it, is whether or not KA is another coach like Pelphrey was at Arkansas.

Someone that might do a decent job at a lower tier program without so much publicity and with low expectations, but who will most certainly shite the bed when they move up to the big leagues.

I admit, I haven't seen most of your games this year and the one that stands out for me was the absolute dogfight y'all had with Arkansas. If you are showing heart but still getting beat then that is encouraging for getting better next season. If the team is rolling over and playing dead... well... not so much.

They show heart and came to fight in about a half dozen games this year. The rest they should have just stayed home.

Illinois
Okie State
LSU
UK Part 2
Arky

I might be missing a game or 2, but that's about the only games where we looked to actually be playing basketball. That's not to say all of the other games were piss poor for 40 minutes. They might play a solid half or show spurts, but those are the games that, if I had to hold on to some hope, I would point to.

Could be from relying on underclass men but that's the biggest take away from the season. They just can't play solid for an entire game. They tend to play solid to good 15-20 minutes a game. Could be just running out of gas either mentally/physically.

Don't buy the running out of gas as the problem. They might be, but that's not the problem. If it is, they started running out of gas in game 1.

Youth is certainly a factor.

Attitude is certainly a factor.

Talent is certainly a factor.

Like it or not, coaching is certainly a factor.

Definitely. They need talent both new and developed. Coaching needs to be better. They need time in the weight room to play through contact, which they shy away from right now.
