This experiment needs to be over. I trust the new AD will make the right move and end it, hopefully this year, but probably next.

KA will be around for another 3 years minimum after this year.

I get the frustration. Lord knows I'm there. And I get that the frustration stems from wanting to see the program succeed. But they're not going to fire a coach after 1 or 2 years. And I'm not sure they even should. The only way I can see KA being fired after next season is if it's a repeat of this year.

He is for sure here next year, and I'd put it at 95% for year 3. Year 4 not so much, if he struggles

Think of Mizzou Basketball as a comedy, not a drama. It's still entertaining, but without the white-knuckle anguish.

We have a very good chance of breaking many school records this year...so that is something. Just not the type of school records we normally consider.

I believe KA will be here for 3 years. Many more years after that if he can turn this around.

I am trying to take the comedy approach, but I am worried that if it goes on much longer that it will take a decade to build the program back to even what it was under Quin.

I haven't been the biggest fan of the last 2 hires, Haith & Anderson.

A coach is only as good as the players that they have, and right now only has the players to be competitive not win.

I think Anderson needs a couple years to see what he can do. His first couple years at Central weren't great either.

I want the next coach to know Jesus...and better yet, lots of AAU and high school coaches.

We aren't even competitive in most games. And that is what has me concerned. More so than the W/L record.

I would disagree that Mizzou isn't competitive. Going back to the Illinois game there have only been 3 games that Mizzou wasn't in position in the second half to either take the lead or extend one.
The problem isn't always the same. Most of this 10 game losing skid Mizzou has shot terrible, but played solid D. The last 2 though Muzzou has not played as good on D, but shot much better.

SC - 15 (as much as they battled, there was never a doubt)
A&M - 12
Bama - 13
OM - 20
UK - 16
Arky - 1 (now that is a competitive game)
A&M - 12
UT - 8
UK - 49
Aub - 6
LSU - Win

1 win.

3 games within 10, last one being 6 games ago.

That's not being too awfully competitive IMO. Were some of those games close at some point? Sure. But even the UK game was close at one time despite losing by almost a half century.

A bunch of those losses were 1-2 possession games in the last 5-10 minutes. If Mizzou had any playmakers they win some of those. Someone like Jabari and this team is a bubble team.
It needs either more talent or this talent to be more polished in order to win.

I hated the hire, but I'm doing my best to support Kim Anderson.

Either way, I think we'll know about the future within 13 months. If this team shows considerable improvement and finishes around .500 next year, Anderson will be here for four to five more years.

If this team stinks it up again and finishes with 20-25 losses? He's gone.

I do hope that the administration has an open mind about making a move regardless of how quick it might be. Two more seasons like this and this program is in a greater crater than Quin left it in. That hurts when it comes to getting a new head coach and obviously recruiting.

In terms of names, I would go after Gregg Marshall again. There were rumblings that the biggest reason he stayed at Wichita was because of his son being in high school. His son graduates this season, freeing him up. Marshall comes off as a guy who wants to be "the man" at the program. I don't think he'll ever coach a Blue Blood school because of this. I do think he would be interested in Mizzou if the administration is competent and willing to work with him. If he guided Mizzou to its first Final Four, he becomes a legend in the state.

Marshall is getting 1.75 mil at Wichita...and I think it would take 2.5-3 at least to lure him. His son is a senior this year (in HS) and he has a younger daughter.

Even with his initial 11-20 season he has a .724 winning percentage at Wichita St.

Not a chance. Jabari would have helped, but there is absolutely no offense run that would open him up. And frankly, creating was not his strength. Haith got him to attack the rim but he was never fluid doing it.

You pointed out 1 of the true weaknesses of this team. No one on the team has that ability to beat defenses off the dribble, to either score for themselves or to set an open shooter up.
Think Phillips helps fill that void next year.
Still will need some form of interior scoring and rebounding though.

I agree. I like the Phillips kid filling that need. I read a rumor somewhere that he may have some qualifying issues. Tell me there's no truth to that.

Hate to ruin or day, but KA will be here a minimum of 4 years. And I don't have a problem with that.
