He'll be booted. They just have to get their ducks in a row first

on. I love how people are shocked over this video...Seems like he got help and is making real strides to improve over the last month or so.

I love how your old defense was that it was hearsay. I also love your new defense.

It is just recently that it has become such a taboo drug and subject.

I don't know about that. I don't ever remember the general public being accepting of people doing lines. I've known plenty of people who have done it and went on to live productive lives and I've known more that have had their lives ruined by it. I don't wish the kid ill. It's just an image we don't need. Not in the 80's. Not now.

Doesn't sound like they have seen this video before now.

Sounds like he's gone for good.

As far as cocaine goes, it was less taboo until around 1980 because it wasn't that popular or well known. When George Jung (Johnny Depp's Character in Blow) and Pablo Escobar flooded the market, people started dropping like flies. Len Bias? I've lost friends recently due to heart attacks likely caused by depreciated heart lining from their cocaine use in the 80s and 90s. Verry different stigma than pot.

This is old news. Most people who went to the Homecoming game found out about it there. It may even predate that game. It is said that his teammates went to the coaches about this and this is how it's been kept out of the media for so long. The guys were tired of his crap and they asked the coaches to get rid of him. He had done stuff like this in somewhat public areas before. Now I've said on here that this was BO first huge mistake but one friend at MU believes that they kept him around to get him help and show that they were not gonna give up on the person. The player is basically done but not the person. Granted this is just hearsay

Personally, I am so tired, embarrassed, shocked, whatever word you want to insert over all of this.

We need to just cut ties and be done with it.

This might be old news, but it's not going away. Who knows what other skeletons in the closet there are still waiting to get out?

And can we say with any certainty the "new" Maty is any different from the old?

What can I say? I don't care about recreational drug use. I find it funny that people are so apologetic for weed, but so against coke/adderall/etc. Both being illegal and all. One makes you a dumb kid, and the other an enigma?

Either way, my opinion is still the same, it would be worse to do something after a video came out (assuming they knew about the event before)

Right now Mauk is probably trying to remember who was on his right as he was hitting that line...and arranging a visit.

You should have lead with that, then. "I don't care if Maty is snorting cocaine and dealing it." Not your silly "You didn't personally witness it so you have no proof so we should pretend like nothing happened."

I dont see how they can possibly keep him around. Come on. Get him help, sure. But as a part of the tram? I don't see any way forward. Which should have been the case a while back.

That is also true, it was all speculative until now. But don't double dip on the criticism. If you were upset about it back then, cool, you were right. Just admit you don't like the kid. This new/old video shouldn't change your perception of the situation if you have already resigned yourself to the fact back in September/October.

Liking the kid had nothing to do with it. At all. It's what his behavior ha done to the team than I don't want the coaches to tolerate. He may be a likable young man. He may be a douche canoe. But his coke use has impacted the team and bid teammates in very negative ways. And he is still putting the program in a bad light. Is one player worth that? I say no.

That there is the debatable point. Video is at least from before December, as evidenced by the haircut. If this video/situation was the reason for original suspension, it seems to me that it would be bad look to re-punish him after already reinstating him.

Sure, you can say he should already be gone by now, but that doesn't have to do with the present conundrum. He is/was back on the team. My opinion, but here are the scenarios.

1. New evidence, unknown to staff- If by some unlikely even that the staff didn't know about this, the decision is pretty easy, and understandable. By know about it, I mean the use, not the video.

2. New evidence, known already, punishment- Ray Rice situation. Extra punishment only because a video came out, not a good look.

3. New evidence, known, no punishment- acknowledge this was this issue that led to initial suspension, got help, etc, No further punishment.

I really don't see any other scenario. 1 and 3 seem like decent options. 2 seems like digging a further hole.

Personally, the video showed me Mauk is not a coke head. He didn't know what he was doing. He looked like a kid pretending to do a fake bump. Definitely hanging with the wrong crowd though with drugs and d-bag tendencies on display.

This is ridiculous. He should never have been reinstated. The kid is a walking disaster and Mizzou obviously has other kids ready to play QB.

This has been the worst 6 months I can ever remember since I became an Alumnus. They have a serious PR problem right now.
