MU has 2 of the top 3 candidates for SEC offensive POY in the division per Will McFadden:

I fully expect us to lead the SEC in virtually every offensive category (including jimmy rustling) with our actual SEC numbers greatly exceeding last years.

Make a bowl? IF our D is in the middle of the SEC stats or above the middle, we're going to the Atlanta.

SDS click bait.

$50 says Will McFadden has not seen Mizzou play since '14.

$100 says Will McFadden has never been to CoMo.

SDS on ignore.

im not as sold on the offense as most just yet.

I think we have all the pieces, but we have yet to show it in a meaningful/legit opponent. Wants I see that, ya i'll join in.

Also so-so was aimed towards like top 70 defense in the country, not middle of the pack sec-wise.

Only offensive games worth noting in 2016:

Tennessee, we scored 37. their defense was ranked #95
Midd tenn, we scored 45, their defense was ranked #96
Vandy, we scored like 20 their defense was ranked #64
Arkansas, we scored 28, their defense was ranked #76

Going into the second year of the system I would not be surprised if Missouri leads the East in offense... hell I would be surprised if you don't lead the East in offense. Georgia has Chaney as OC. USCe is still finding the pieces for an offense. Florida has been toothless on that side of the for the last couple of years.

With decent defensive play I think Missouri is in competition for the East title right down to the wire. I suspect Florida will finally take a step back as they lose the core of their defense. Georgia has talent coming out of their ears but having suffered through two seasons of Chaney as the Arkansas OC I have little confidence in their ability to win close games. I would say the East is wide open this year.

I put a couple of 'ifs' in but I think we'll see some eye popping numbers and hopefully we can do it vs. the SEC

Elarbee's interior 3 will determine the ceiling for the offense.

Theoretically we should have a great offense and mediocre defense and should make a bowl. But as a long standing mizzou fan it is usually the opposite of what you expect.
Remember this time last year when our defense was going to be great because the HC was a defensive genius and our offense had been atrocious? This has happened many times over the years. I predict the defense will be number 3 in the SEC and the offense gets figured out and drops to number 13. We barely make a bowl and Beckner heads to the NFL and we keep Lock another year.

As much as I'd love to see it happen, I can't see it. Anytime the media ever gives MU guys some love, they either suck or decline the next year (except our DL for most years).

Remember how hyped up our OL was before 2015?

Or that scary arse defense that returned 8 starters last year?

I like it when we receive little to no love from the media

The defense was bad because of the schemes that HCBO put in. MU has been recruiting certain types of players to play aggressive defense. Go back to that defense. It WORKED !!!!

Odom makes top 105 ranked FBS college coaches in Athlon article. So we got that going for us.

That defense was also missing its best player Brothers. He made a number of tackles that the LBs last year missed on a regular basis.

Solid LB play is a must for any scheme but the WLB has to be the 2nd level playmaker for any defense with a 40 front. He has pursuit, backside gap fill and flat responsibilities in pass D. The scheme is designed to funnel to that position. Burkett and Lee combined for fewer tackles per game after switching back to a one gap scheme.

Beisel and Hall will be fine at WLB and MLB. Depth is questionable but if those two can stay healthy MU will be better vs the run this year.

Defense has to be the key this year. I fully expect our offense to get a little better, especially against better teams, but the D has to take a huge step forward. I don't really see us going to Atlanta, but I do expect us to be in the top 3 of the East.
I think our d-line will be good, but our linebackers and corners have excel! McCann has to be much much better too!
I really think 7-5 or 8-4 are very attainable....6-6 would be a disappointment....9-3 or 10-2 would outstanding!

Awesome.

Do you think the staff Odom has put together is 105th in the country? If so, which staff members did Odom mistakenly hire and who should he replace them with?

That's not what they ranked. They weren't ranking staffs. They were ranking coaches.

I think his staff is good. I thought Elarbee was a steal from the jump. I think Heupel is a good/great hire. The Dline coach is good. I had questions about Cross coming in and we'll have a better idea about his future with the team after this year.

Odom made rookie, boneheaded mistakes from before he even took the job. He let either his pride or poor judgment drive a few keys decisions. We'll see if he learned from them this year.

His ego took a much needed kick to the balls last year.... Let's see what he's learned.

I actually think his staff is solid, with only a couple of question marks.
