Bruce Walker not working with Ford to keep that guy instate is shameful. He mauls every guy that plays across from him.

Did he go to Florida St. or Arky?

Florida St.
Brian Wallace is the one who went to Arkansas that year.

Thanks and in hog language...oink, oink!

Wallace had a solid year for Arkansas at RT. He was another player that Walker did little to help Ford keep instate.
Walker wanted "his" guys in his room and it ended up costing him his job. He should have been going to STL with Ford when these guys were noticed as Sophomores.

If that cost him his job, Pinkel made that decision in about the worse possible way. Walker announced his retirement in July. If recruiting was an issue and Pinkel actually made that decision himself, Walker should've been gone as soon as the season ended.

Losing Johnson and Wallace weren't the only players that led up to his being replaced. He lost Simon Goines and Germain Ifedi late in the 2012 cycle as and those were guys he was the primary recruiter on.

I thought he retired as well.

They reported that Eberflus and Yost both "stepped down" as well.
Henson had more of a say in Walker "retiring" than most people might think. He didn't like Walker's recruiting efforts and he didn't care for how he ran the Oline room.

And we all saw how great Henson's judgement was with the o line his last season here.

I was meh on Henson as an OC and no one would argue that leaving Mitch Hall on the field for the 2015 season to get abused was sound judgement. Defaulting to upperclassmen was a constant under GP. Ricker, Henson, and GP own that.
If all you look at is one season to judge him, sure he sucked. His body of work suggests something a little different. MU had 2 offensive linemen drafted in the 8 years prior to his arrival and 4 in the six after he got here. MU also had 4 consecutive RBs run for 1000 yds after he got here and he almost had two run for 1000 in 2014 as OC. He knows his craft and is a good recruiter. I like Elarbee but Henson won't be an analyst for long.

I agree with you that his whole time here needs to be kept in consideration. I agree that he was a step in the right direction from Yost.
However, strictly talking about the O-Line. The jump the O-line made from Henson's last season to this season was enormous. No way it was all coaching.
It was nice to see the improvement, but that improvement did rub a little salt in the wound seeing Adams and Fairchild play so solidly after watching a full season of the turnstiles Henson/GP insisted on playing.
Seeing Boehm and McGovern find their way onto the field as much as they did their rookie year in the bigs just further shows how pathetic the rest of that line was. ugggggghhhhhhh.

The word out was that Ricker wanted to play some of the younger o-linemen, but was out voted by Pinkel and Henson. Ricker was criticized big time on these forums and lost his job and made the scapegoat.

Easy to say walking out the door. If that is what he wanted to do with his room, it was his job to sell/defend his position the his department head and HC and get his guys on the field. Both years on staff he bounced guys around in the spring and fall instead of setting a group and letting them learn to communicate. Elarbee took a group that was near the bottom of the nation in returning starts and cut over 50 TFLs and helped the offense have 85 more long scrimmage plays.

Was it Elerbee or Huepel primarily responsible for the improvement?
The OL was better, but wasn't asked to do much.

MU had 53 rushing plays longer than 10 yds in 2015.
They had 83 in 2016.
In 2015 they had 74 passing plays over 10 yds
They had 129 in 2016 and its not like the WRs were catching a bunch of screens and slants. They had 47 plays over 20 yds and 25 over 30 yds.
The line was asked to do plenty.

The '15 OL was a disaster because they had no natural LT with experience with those movements, a weakened guard bc their best guard was playing LT, a true freshman qb who was more susceptible to getting eaten up. Other problems.
'16's OL was cleaner from LT to RT. A natural LT anchoring it down. People playing to their strengths across the line. A more prepared qb. More emphasis on RB's contribution to blocking.

That would be impossible to change a head coach's attitude towards the OL with a head coach who has been here as long as GP was. He was a coach who rewarded loyalty. The married men in this forum who have been married for more than a few years will tell you they are not selling anything to the wife that she does not want to buy !!!

I have seen a few mocks that have him going to Carolina at 40. I hope that KC takes him at 30.
