I'll let my fandom run wild a bit and say it might also have something to do with Mizzou. After all, how can Mizzou find success in the SEC but the Nubs can't even find the same level of success in the shitty B1G?
This isn't as far fetched as it would appear. We are a comparison point for their fans. They see us on TV, hear the press we're getting from the SEC league at large and the money we're making and I don't think it's crazy that it drives them crazy.

yep when osbourne retired that was the end of the titles.
You'll never have a program dominate college football with the demographics Nebraska has as a state anymore.
1). The media doesn't allow a program to be run one step above a drug cartel anymore.
2). Drug testing.
3). TV sets continue to drive media deals which drives exposure which helps drive recruiting. Nebraska ain't got em.

That and the North End Zone curse corollary: Invoke the curse to beat Mizzou, in return your program will decline. (See Colorado after the 5th down, more recently USCe) Sometimes it takes a while, though not in the case of USCe. The Nubs last championship was 1997. Yes, the year of the Kick-down, in the North End Zone.
They're doomed I tells ya, DOOOOOOOOMMMMED!!

Word is the next coach is hired. He may be more liked, personality-wise than Bo, but I agree that NU's glory days are over. Used to be 4+5* players overlooked the cornfields with the lure of "You can compete for a national championship."
NU may have some "good" years ahead, but it's gonna be tough even if Jesus himself is the next coach.
