Recruiting thread (Davis twins), I know but didn't want it buried there.

I know that the firing has been rumored at various times over the last few years, but firing a 9-3 coach that wasn't on a motorcycle with a hot young employee makes has got to make the Nebby job pretty toxic for a lot of coaches.

Yup, I'm pretty surprised. Nebraska is completely delusional. They think they should be competing for NCs every year and those days are long gone.

I was wondering when this would finally happen. Good for the nubbers.

I agree, the nineties are long gone and Pelini was getting them 9 or 10 wins every year. Not sure what they expect, considering they're in Nebraska.

Yeah. I think it's dumb. But I think it has much to do with Pelini's inability to manage booster expectations and his ability to piss off the fanbase and administration. He would still have a job there if he wasn't a total asshat.

All my in-laws are Cornhuskers. Seems those who look at the wins along aren't the majority. 808 is right, he was fired because he's a jerk (and can't win big ones.) Word also is they don't like 9-win seasons when 6 teams are creampuffs.

Remember Solich? Fired after a 9-win season.

Pelini was fired because he could not affect a plan that was going to improve the program. Yes they win 9 games, but he only wins the games you expect him to win.

Plus Scott Frost has shown interest in coming back but only as HC.

If Frost were to leave Oregon, I wonder how that would affect Ofodile, since Frost is his lead recruiter.

This has to have as much to do about Pelini as a person as it does a coach. 9 or 10 wins EVERY year. A bowl EVERY year. As someone said, this is not the 80's or whatever.

I'll let my fandom run wild a bit and say it might also have something to do with Mizzou. After all, how can Mizzou find success in the SEC but the Nubs can't even find the same level of success in the shitty B1G?

This could be huge for Mizzou. Hopefully we have a competitive game this weekend and keep the momentum going that will make it a no-brainer for these kids.

Imagine if GP had a dui or divorce incident at the rate of 1 per season, that's the level of embarrassment lil bopee heaps on that program, mostly just from opening his mouth.

My nub friends are saying Tressell will be their next coach. One of them has a "source" in the Ath Dept.

(and no this is not my intentional coach flaming i.e. Marshall to Mizzou ha)

Nebraska inquired about the appeals process to the Tressel show cause penalty. As it stands he cannot coach penalty free until 2016. But Nebraska has the brand and positive history to renegotiate the penalty if they hire him.
