For one, that's football coach money and secondly, that would have been pretty hard to turn down.

It was hard for him to turn down.

I think we are all forgetting that we are now in the SEC. What basketball coach worth a salt wants to coach in the SEC (minus kentucky)? If I were a coach, I would take a crud ACC team or Big 10 team over an SEC team.

Being honest, we simply don't have the "over the hump" moment that would make elite coaches want to come here.

KA was hired April 28th. If you can't install a legit offense in 6 months before non-con....thats undoubtedly on the coach.

I honestly appreciate teaching principles and such. But he wasn't hired to be a life coach, he was hired to be a basketball coach.

I like how KA gets one season, but somehow after he gets fired that new coach will be set back 5-6 years????? So the new coach gets 5 years, but KA gets 1. Okay got it!

So why did he? And is that door firmly shut?

Who has said he only gets one year? I think nearly everyone has said he'll be here next year. Doesn't change the fact that year one sucked worse than any other coach's year one in Mizzou history.

I have no idea why everyone believes we will have mass transfers out of MU. The freshman and sophmores got tons of playing time. Very few wins but that will change. If they look at the football team for inspiration they would see that 2012 SEC football team almost got their coach fired then they got healthy and won back to back SEC east titles.

Sports is fickle. Very few teams stay on top and it does not take much for a team to click and have a great season.

This team needs to find a couple of scorers. That is the problem.

It will be HUGE if we can ink Thomas Bryant. Talk about a game changer. Adding a rim protector to the mix will be huge to play by JWIII. Not to mention, if the guy can develop offensively. I honestly think we are a few pieces away from being a damn good team.

He turned it down because his son is a senior in HS this year. No, the door isn't shut but firing KA after one year would likely sour the punch bowl too much. It was really a catch 22 situation.

But then there's Big 12, AAC and every other conference. Football drives the revenue train in College sports. If you want long term stability, an SEC program offers that in a way others can't.

If the freshmen take a step forward, with someone stepping up as a go-to shooter, and we can get some decent post play, we could find ourselves in the top half of the conference next year. Obviously a lot of ifs, but people claiming that this team is unsalvageable are jumping the gun.

There are zero reports or evidence of almost every coach ever considering a job. Get over it, arse chapped.

I hate to tell you the next time we are good it won't be under KA. Guy can't coach. Just awful.

I simply can't wait until we're good again, under KA, and a lot of the posters here saying "I knew it."

That just sounds like they are trying damage control. If we didn't see it after 32 games we ain't seenin' it.

I have spoken with a couple of ex players recently. They have been around the team some. They seem to think that we haven't seen KAs system yet.
Was told he has focused on culture, working hard, and fundamentals more than a strategy to win.
Seems next year is the first year for us to see what his long term philosophy and coaching ability is really about.
Hope that they are right.
