I don't understand the hate for Haith bringing in transfers, it worked and kept us winning. So we struggled in the tournament, at least we got there. KA came in and denounced transfers and now he's talking about wanting to get at least 2 JUCO transfers in this class. The dude didn't know what he was getting into IMO and has now realized this isn't D2 or 1980's D1. Would you rather take transfer guys and win or suffer through losing seasons like this? KA is going to lose kids to transfer after the season, so we'll hear "but we're so young! " again next year. The excuses have to stop some time. He's coaching us through one of our worst seasons ever, open your eyes guys, he's doing a terrible job right now. Can he turn it around? Idk, I hope so for Mizzou's sake, but I don't have any confidence he will.

I agree. However, this recruiting class was one he threw together at the drop of a hat. I am actually impressed with all things being considered. Teki is obviously the jewel of the class. It is great we were at least able to get a guy like him under the circumstances.

His lack of recruiting helped land us here. In his final season we went 9-9 in a decent conference and missed the NCAA tourny. He saw that the team was going to be a dumpster fire the next year with Brown/Clarkson leaving and decided to jump ship. If you continuously build your recruiting class around transfers you will be screwed when you don't get said transfers. Not to mention he ran off Jankovic and Webster Chan. I think they could have been solid players for us.

I was talking about the 2015 class with Puryear, VanLeer and Phillips. I thought he did a good job piecing together the final touches of the 2014 class and said as much, with the jewel of that class being Teki like you said. I've never given him credit for getting Wright or Gant, but I do give him credit for keeping them. In other words, had we not already landed them, I don't think KA would have ever gotten them.

Couldn't the same be said of Jones and Beidscheid too?

Yeah, I got you. I am actually a fan of Phillips. One of the more respected recruiting analysts was surprised Phillips was so under-recruited. He is on pace to set the all-time assist record (Rando was a graduate) at Oak Hill which has produced some big names. In college, you don't need your pg to be a big time scorer, but more of a facilitator. I think this guy could make a tremendous impact when he is all said and done.

Phillips is the best of the commits so far. He's what this team needs. We currently lack a pass first, shoot second type player.

Transfers will never get a team over the hump. Sure a team made up of good transfers will win some games, and maybe make the tournament, but to actually play deep into March, you either need a veteran roster with guys that know their roles, have been playing together for a while, or a team made up of ultra-talented blue chip Mcdonalds All-Americans. This team has neither.

Puryear and Van Leer have gone up against other high D1 players this year and got the best of them. Vanleer took on OG from Jefferson City. Puryear played Whitt.
Doesn't mean that they will be stars, but it's probably indicative that they belong at this level.

They are role players. MVC type players. That means their pretty damn good. Very few are even that good. But Tatum would school any of those guys any day of the week. I don't mind having a player or 2 like that, but ya better get a Tatum type kid to go with them.

Although I tend to agree with that, I do believe that a team can be a successful consistent NCAA team every year with a senior class led by the types that Mizzou has committed this year.

But to win a title Mizzou will need those types of guys combined with 1-2 elite underclass men.

We need players that will stay all 4 years. These are the type of players that will get a little playing time early in their careers, but hopefully be studs by their senior year. If we are lucky enough to land Tatum and Porter they are 1 maybe 2 year players. Then they are headed to the draft.

We need players that are 4* talent that will stay all four years. If Clarkson and Brown would have stayed this team has chance to make the dance. Van Leer should be a really good player by his 3rd and 4th year. I see what KA is doing building for the future, but we also need guys that can play now.

Are you defending torren jones? Do you really feel he deserved to be on scholarship to the university?

We sure could use him.

My point was if one is going to be fair about matters and talk about one coach running players off then it is only fair to talk about how the other coach did the same thing.

The 2 things I remember hearing about were him trashing his place and getting evicted and him being in possession of some stolen credit cards.

I believe that his last infraction was to get kicked out of his apartment for non payment of rent- he then trashed his apartment and would not accept fault for the damages. Basically just massive immature b.s. just can't have a temper tantrum at age 20 with somebody else's property and not accept the consequences.

Agreed in fairness. And I personally don't fault Haith for running off players. I also don't fault KA.
